I think Brown just needs more time. A 7th round pick, if he pans out as a 3rd liner... that's still a fantastic return. Although I think he'll continue to progress, he's too driven not to make it.

The two prospects that I really really like are Johnson & Nielsen... they both look like they can become SERIOUS impact players for the Leafs... still time and development to go though.

Wherever the Goat fits, I'm stoked.

I agree Carrick is a fantastic steal... and love what he brings. If Lindberg turns out near as good... add in Zaitsev & Dermott, our D isn't as bad as some thing moving forward.

Nylander wants to be the best and a complete player as well. I'm so glad 7 other teams thought he had attitude and commitment issues. We stole him at 8.

Carrick will be a top 4 D in Babcocks system because of his love for LH-RH pairing. Doubt he’ll be with Rielly, but with the 2nd pairing prolly.

    Are you talking about Vesey?

And Toronto deserved a better fate than what they got yesterday. It was Bishop’s world for 2.5hrs and we all just lived in it.

    ^ Hyman too.

Also, what lets hear what you guys think of Kadri moving forward. I think Leafs try to sign him cheap. He's impressed me this season with his hitting but still needs to work on his strength. On the boards specifically. I think regardless if he plays in Toronto or not next season he'll have close to a 55-60 point season.

My thinking is his future hinges on the draft. Toronto gets Matthews, they try and trade Kadri. Say what you will about Bozak, but him+JvR would make a good security blanket for Matthews. And then there’s also Nylander, Gauthier, the whole Laich, Greening 4th line center, Holland. If Toronto gets Matthews, I don’t see a spot where Kadri should be. Especially if he’s a 55-60pt guy, because he’ll be asking for a contract that would be given to a 70pt guy.

But Kadri has no leverage leading up to his RFA status. Depends what he's asking for in regards to keeping him or not

Kadri needs to be packaged for a top 4 D.

unless he's willing to sign a reasonable deal, and we plan on moving nylander to wing.

pretty much no decision can be made until we find out about stamkos/matthews

two games on tonight with massive implications in the standings.

Toronto (2nd last, 67 points) vs Columbus (3rd last, 70 points)

Edmonton (last, 67 points) vs Vancouver (5th last, 73 points)

if the leafs lose there is a good chance they lock up 2nd. if they win they could fall to 3rd.

    What happened.

Sending down Carrick and even Valiev to call up Brennan now reeks of tanking to me. It is what it is. They are just playing the system.

Secured a top 5 pick tonight.

What happened with Brennan? I stopped watching when it was 1-0 Leafs out of pure spite.

what an embarrassment, last in the league. i suppose it could be worse given there are teams close to us that aren't trying to rebuild but man i am hoping for this season to end. all i can be thankful for is that the leafs didn't trade away their 1st rounder this time.

Less of an embarrassment than the dreaded fall from grace last year and the year before. Atleast this was the goal headed into this year.

Leafs lose tonight they finish last. There was only 1 time I think the Leafs have finished last and that was 1984-85 season. Picked 1st that offseason (obviously, there was no lottery) and chose Wendel Clark.
