No he can be sent to the AHL. Same as Kapanen when he was 18. but he's aleady said he's staying in Sweden next year.

But, if he goes to the OHL, is it CHL or NHL like Marner? He was drafted out of SHL so is it different and like Kapanen/Matthews/Nylander where they could go to the AHL before 21 (i think)? It's the drafted out of SHL but (lets assume the longshot) he goes to the OHL for 2017-18, can he go to the AHL 2018-19?

I don't think hes come out and said he's 100% playing in Sweden next year. But he's hinted at such.

He has 1 more year left on his contract with Rogle.

I just find it strange that Niagara took this gamble with a kid who is most likely staying in Sweden. I know Niagara will get compensated if he doesn't show but at 13 it's still a huge risk that you don't need to take.

I don't know. I dont really follow the import draft to know how many of those kids actually show up.

He could play AHL next year because he was drafted out of Europe. At least that's what I think.

McGwire reporting Leafs are being heavily linked to Matt Duchene... umm.. okay... play him at wing? Trade him immediately for a Dman? This rumour confuses me.

His speed and cycle game does scream Babcock style of forward. He's surprisingly good below the goal-line and on a cycle.

Pierre McGuire makes a good point on how Islanders couldn't get a deal done with Hamonic and Duchene as the center pieces, so maybe Colorado isn't wanting a D-man right now. Maybe they want to tank and just get picks/and prospects.

Maybe other teams are pointing at the back-half of 2016-17 production and are just like, "No thank-you" for the big price Sakic wants.

Didn't Bozak go to NCAA in Colorado? There's a connection there (as Friedman would say).

Pure conjecture but here's my offer: Duchene for Bozak/Nielsen/conditional 1st 2018. Condition being if Bozak resigns there. If he does, pick decreases to a 2nd.

Looks terrible for the Avs to me...so Sakic will likely do this, ya?

Sakic is such a bad GM...he'd more be useful if he laced em up again.

I've been watching the Avs for awhile now and I'm skeptical that Duchene is as good a center as he's being made out to be. Don't get me wrong - he's way better than the last few years but he doesn't play the center position as completely as others. Honestly, at the center position, I rather have Kadri.

Now, he's a serviceable center with upside but you may get more out of him at wing.

I can understand this for sure. But he's a much better skater than both Naz and Bozak plus younger than Bozak.
One thing about Babs - he wants speed, speed, speed.
You wouldn't trade a Bozak package for Duchene ?

Bozak is gone in a year, Duchene would be two years. From Col's end, I don't see what Bozak brings that fits their needs. I mean, an extension is the only way I could see that going down. JVR makes more sense, they have Jost & Mack as #1 & #2C - with really only Rantanen on the wing worth a damn.

They would want certainty in return for moving Duchene, which is why I don't think Bozak/JVR makes sense if there was a package going to Col.
Nielsen & 1st makes a lot more sense as a starter package.
That said, we're Forward heavy in prospects as it is... not sure these F'd rumours make sense when our need is clearly on D.
