Who sits when they dress Marchenko? There's a few options.

The problem is, we have 3-4 Dmen fighting to get bottom pairing ice time Polak, Carrick, Hunwick, now adding Marchenko.. no one's challenging for top 4 ice time. Someone needs to step up and challenge Marincin for his spot.

it's been way way too long since we had a set-6 Defence. They need to become a 'plug and play' defense - not a 'play the plug' defense

Carrick hasn't been scratched since early December, no? And it was a one off.

As I mentioned before in here.

If the Leafs make the playoffs this year while giving up so many points throughout the year I'll be very impressed. Unfortunately, I don't see them making the playoffs. How many games have they lost in OT and/or squandered a lead late in the game?

If they closed out games like they should they would have at least 10 more points and leading the division. The growing pains of a young team I guess.

Leafs working on getting Brian Boyle from Tampa. PK, 4th line, big bodied, FW, experienced center. I like it.

All depends on the cost. that will determine how much I like this move.

The Goat audition seems to have failed, and they aren't making a deep playoff run this year, so this trade seems a little odd if Boyle's just a rental.

The play of Gauthier worked well with Martin/Sosh on the 4th line. The guy couldn?t win a faceoff consistently though. Smith won faceoffs?kind of?.but his frame didn?t work well with the crash style of the 4th line.

I like the price, because Froese wasn?t going to be anything more than a 4th line guy, or a bad 3rd line guy, and the Leafs are just stacked with ?future? guys. This will cost them the worst 2nd rounder they have which could be a 25-30th in the round.

Goat, or Puzzles, needs another half step in his skating to stick. Too many times he showed up a foot too late to a play. I'm also hoping for a 2yr extension, probably at martin $$ 2.5m - I'd be okay with that. Boyle's got 2 solid years left. He'll make that bottom line a 12-13min/night line every game.

Agree with Lucafen here. Nice addition at a reasonable price. Choice to re-sign. He's managed to play with Tampa's top dogs at various stages not to mention getting some decent time on the PP there. Like the deal.

And Lucafen...than you for pulling me out of the Ottawa/Burrows/Evnonsense thread and helping me get my baring's!

Foot speed has always been Goats problem, but he has long strides and can get up to a decent top speed for his size, so if he can’t up his acceleration, he can hope to read a play before it develops. SO much harder to do than say, but I’m not giving in on Goat, but he’s def a 4th line specialist tops.

Boyle on the PP may be a good fit too to be the center to win the draw and just post up in front of the net if need be. Take Komarov off the PP2.
    Brown-Boyle-Nylander-Gardiner (D)-Matthews (D).

That would be a tester on a stale PP tho, not a right away thing at all.

So what you all think of Olesky? How does he compare to Marincin etc.
