Babcock loves Gardiner. Kindve his pet project and he's having a great camp.

If it's a pts lg he's #1 this season followed by Rielly than Phaneuf. Multicat I'd still put phaneuf on top.

I truly believe it's going to be Rielly & Gardiner on pp 1.

Gardiner made a really nice end to end (with a give and go involved) the other night. I love how he has been given the green light in the pre-season.

I also loved the Rielly + Gardiner PP 2 yrs ago. They were really fun to watch. The worse thing about the Leafs PP was no speed when entering the zone. Forwards were motionless when Dion would skate up slowly with it expecting something to open up. Rielly and Gardiner have the footspeed and reputation to go end to end, it’ll back people up and give some room to actually set up a PP

Honestly those 2 along with the young kids developing are the few bright spots that will keep me going through this rebuild.

Hunwick was almost guaranteed the job when he was signed on a 1-way 2 year and paired with Dion often. That’s just from what I read and heard early in the season. But I was surprised Rielly and Gardiner weren’t placed together, but Marincin is a good puck mover isnt he?

The Oilers moved him because he was soft and wasn't they didn't see much offensive upside in him. Leafs fans will soon see this too.

Soft as in won’t go into the corner and take a hit? Gardiner was like that last yr, and he’s seemed to work his way out of that with his raised confidence.

What is there to write about?

How Babcock is putting in a system which seems to be working because every game they actually look decent?

How they have an allegiance to Bernier over Reimer it seems?

How they lack any top end talent?

How their best player seems to be Morgan Rielly?

The team is utilizing the IR with their slightly banged up players so they can cycle in players and give them a shot?

For the first time since this forum has been created they are doing what they need to do, but not getting wins. That is exactly what I like about this season. The system is getting implemented, the youth guys are performing well (maybe not stats wise), and they don’t have a lot of points.

PS. Per the goalie thing, they are grooming Bibeau to be the future, so it doesn’t matter to me which goalie (Riemer, Bernier) take the starting role right now.

Keep him down there. No need to waste a year of his contract in a forgotten season.

10games, 10pts, 32SOG, he’s doing amazing right now down there, no need to change the path now.

Whats up with Kadri? He's getting shots on goal like mad but he can't score and none of his linemates can bang in a rebound? What gives?

And then I just had to read this garbage.....

This writer must like to bang his head against a problem until it hurts, and then bang it even harder, as if that will solve the problem. Babcock is probably looking forward to a chance to win some games and refresh before getting back to work with the Leafs. Who knows, something might inspire him too.

I really like watching them play this year. I’m not sure if that’s because I have 0 expectations for them, or if they are actually fun to watch. I go into a game hoping for them to play well and lose, so when they win it’s icing on the cake.

I’m curious where they land in the draft now. I was thinking top 3 pick to start the season, now I’m thinking top 10…

I like how I enjoy watching Leaf games, they’re playing well, and they are below 500 lol.

I want this all year. Finish bottom 5, get a solid pick, and have Pitts playing bad, but winning so they’re in the playoffs, and leave early. Top 5 pick + a top 20 (15th-20th) pick makes me happy.

Get Alex Nylander, Tkachuk, or better yet Matthews, then get a guy like Sam Steel. Set for a solid turn around.

    Updates from Leafs top Prospects:
CHL - Marner. 16GP-32pts with the London Knights
    AHL - Nylander. 14GP-19pts
    AHL - Kapanen. 9GP-4Pts (4Goals)
    AHL - Leivo. 13GP-14pts
    NCAA/CHL – Bracco. 13GP-14pts
    AHL - Brown. 8GP-4pts
    AHL - Hyman. 13GP-6pts
    Euro – Herzog. 17GP-10pts
    AHL - Leipsic. 14GP-7pts
    Euro - A.Johnson. 18GP-15pts
    Euro – Engvall. 20GP-9pts
    AHL - Percy. 13GP-5pts
    AHL - Valiev. 14GP-3pts
    CHL – Dermott. 19GP-17pts
Euro – Lindgren. 18GP-4pts (1st yr in SHL vs men)
