Ok Toronto, your boys are officially done from playoff contention. What's on the horizon? Obviously Carlyle is gonzo, what else?

Thats actually a good article from Mirtle. I can't say that often.

Carlyle is for sure gone. New leadership is needed.

In regard to leadership, you mean something like this comment? Phaneuf: "As a player you don't ever imagine having stretches like we had, but they do happen. There's others teams that had'em too."

That comment pisses me off. Who cares about other teams, it's like he's making an excuse that other teams have had it happen to them, just like it did with them. Really? As a captain you take ownership, who the hell cares what other teams have gone through. This is your team.

Beyond that, I don't even know where to begin. I honestly think my first serious consideration would be exploring the market for Dion. I know he eats up a lot of minutes, and who do you replace him with, yadda yadda.
But this is now 3 very enormous collapses, 3 consecutive years, all happening under his "leadership."

And I'm even willing to give him a pass on the leadership void, because that can't all fall on him. But it starts with him. And he's a flawed hockey player who is getting paid like a #1. That spells trouble long term. Try to move him and start building this ship properly for a change.

And the season comes to an end. The Leafs earned only 4 points in their 14 games. Wowzers! Well, it's time for Leafs fan to let this chapter close and look forward to the summer of " change" and see what direction they take. The bright side you ask? Things can only get better moving forward

I read this earlier today and thought it belonged here since there has been a lot of talk around the Leafs making some moves this week.

    http://www.chathamdailynews.ca/2014/...-talk-heats-up

My take on Nonis' comments is that they're definitely going to make a move and are open to multiple options (adding a vet, trading up, etc)

I gotta tell you. With the Kontiola and Santorelli signing, I have a gut feeling Kadri is being traded.

Projected lines should look something like this now.

    JVR - Bozak - Kessel
    Lupul - Kadri - Frattin
    Komarov - Kontiola - Clarkson
    Ashton - Santorelli and whoever.

    Phaneuf - Franson
    Gardiner - Robidas
    Polak - Rielly

with about 6.5M to work with

Not very impressive. That 2nd line is brutal. Imagine signing B.Richards for $2M and trading Kadri and Riems for Kane? Ahhh good ol fantasy land.

I've got a buddy who works for the Leafs organization.
He says the rumor mill there is just as prevalent there as anywhere in Leafs nation but the information is more accurate. i.e. 50/50 instead of 10/90
Also, it's often spotty and incomplete but there's usually a grain of truth in it, so by all means take it with a grain of salt. The Kadri for Yakupov thing might just be talk at this point, or they might be formulating an actual offer or in talks with EDM, it's hard to say but usually there is something to it.

Well, never say never, but in this case I'd ask your buddy if he's been sniffing glue lately.

Keep in mind that there are usually other pieces involved in these deals: picks, prospects, other players but you just hear about the main players

Like I said, who knows what could happen, but I don't see the Oilers giving up on Yakupov for a guy like him.
