    Weal-Giroux-Voracek
    Konecny-Filppula-Simmonds
    Read-Couturier-Patrick
    Raffl-Lehtera-Weise

Filppula and Couturier could easily switch spots, depending on chemistry with the wingers.
That does not look like a playoff team. Schenn trade was terrible.

I think their forward group is actually decent enough to make the playoffs. Center depth is important, and they have lots of that. But their 'D' is horrible - Provorov needs to take a big step in his development, and Myers needs to step in and make an impact in his rookie season if they're hoping to get anywhere.

But yes, the Schenn trade was terrible and there was no reason to make it really.

What was Hakstol thinking in challenging the game-tying goal last night?

On a 5 v 3 penalty kill, Nashville scores and Hakstol challenges.

Yeah sure if you get the challenge right then there is a huge chance at a W... but there is still over a minute left.

If you get it wrong... then you are back on a 5 v 3 penalty kill for the rest of the game (unless Nashville scores and takes the lead - which is what happened)

But when you watch the replays of the play he was challenging, it was not even close to being offside... it was clearly onside. If you are going to challenge at the point in the game make 100% sure it is offside. If not 100% sure, let them have the goal... kill the remaining minute of 5v4 penalty kill and take it to overtime. I think this was a huge mistake as a coach.

    End rant.

You're absolutely right about that. And there was a lot of time between the possible offside and the goal, so their video guys should have had plenty of time to make sure they're 100% sure.

But I'd also question what the heck Andrew MacDonald was doing lying on the blue paint when there was absolutely nothing happening on that side of the ice. That can't be easy for the goalie when your D-men take away your ability to move.

Giroux and Voracek are both elite playmakers but that team is lacking goal-scorers in a bad way.

Simmonds is actually pretty sick goal scorer. But yeah this team is not built well.

Yes he is but he's more the type of goal-scorer who scores the dirty goals by going to the net. What I meant is they need someone who can find the open spots on the ice and score from a distance.

Last year we won 10 in a row and then missed the playoffs....

Maybe after losing 10 in a row this year we will make the playoffs....

    Now that's optimism.

I don't know what's wrong with this team though. They have good talent through out and stacked at defence.

the lack of scoring depth... thats what i would say is wrong.

Outside of there top PP unit and Provorov there hasn't been any scoring.

The next highest is Filpulla with 11 points in 26 games.

Roster mismanagement. It’s tough to win games when talented young threats like Konecny, Sanheim, and Weal get benched in the third period and over time while less capable veterans like Weise, Lehtera, and Manning eat up the minutes.
