I doubt it. He's got some AHL seasoning ahead of him -- they don't rush their prospects. It took B. Smith forever and a day to get a full-time gig. Kindl was even longer. Sproul has some work to do defensively before he's a Wing full-time.

Unless they want to run a D core of all lefties, they'll use Sproul or make a trade

I think Dobber said that almost all Red Wings players (except 2-3) are left handed, so I don't see that being a righty will mather much.

Very fair. They employed a few righties last season though - Alfredsson, Tootoo, Glendening, Sameulsson, Pulkkinen, Ferraro, Eaves, Marchenko and Sproul.

I'd be hard pressed to believe they focus on lefties on purpose, rather this is just the way it happened. I'm sure they're still looking for righties to hop up and help ASAP.

Yeah i'm sure Babcock would like to have a few righties in there, could make line pairing simpler.

The Wings could make a trade, but do they have a cupboard full of great prospects that everyone is salivating over?? I don't see it, other then Mantha..

Surprising how empty the cupboard looks after Nyquist, Tatar, and Jurco made the jump last year, and Jarnkrok got traded.

Weird, I wonder what changed recently?

    http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2...til-september/

I wonder if it is Alfie who is not sure if he wants to come back? Or the Wings not sure if they want him back another year? Anyone heard anything on this? It obviously has an impact on the up and coming prospects.

Probably wants to attend camp but also take as much time as possible to ensure his back is good to go before signing a new deal, hence the 'tryout'

With all of the big names from the wings roster already taken in my draft (Zetts, Dats, Tatar, Nyquist, Franzen) I was thinking of taking R Sheahan, especially with the amount of injuries the top Wings players seem to have season after season he could move up the lines pretty quick, but I also noticed that Weiss was available in the draft as well. All reports are that he is 100% fit and raring to go, although not having played in quite a while could be rusty.

So the question is if you were picking one of these two which would it be and why??
