Just wondering if you have any thoughts on my query above, thanks.

Sorry man must have missed these.

Datsyuk is the better faceoff for sure.

With Weiss.....no way for me to tell. Weiss hasn't been necessarily good on the draw so maybe they use either Zberg or Datsyuk on the faceoff and then they switch with Weiss? I dunno.

How they are going to use him is unknown to me because their entire 2nd line has been hurt all preseason.

Weiss has been brought in to be the 2nd line center. That's all Babcock has been talking about since they signed him.

Emmer ton has been waived. For his price I wouldn't be surprised to see him land somewhere else.

Samuelsson was still recovering from injury as the buyout window closed. He could have argued that he was not healthy, thus he could not be bought out. Babcock really likes him too, which probably helped him stay rather than forcing the issue.

How do you guys like the chances of Z/Dats sticking on the top line together all season?

Babcock changes adjust lines. That's what he does. I know Weiss was brought in as the #2 centre but if that line dries up for 5 games (it has Franzen on it!) then I can easily see a split happening.

That being said, I do think they will be together more than in past years because Weiss is going to be a more effective #2 than Filppula was. Plus if that line does go into a slump they could just as easily bring a vet like Bert, Cleary or Samuelsson on it.....or even inject some youth with Tatar.

I couldn't agree more re: Sammy. Nyquist has no business being in Grand Rapids.

Babcock saying that the tie goes to the veteran?
Unless he means in terms of salary constraints and obligations, then he's on acid, because Tatar and Nyquist outplayed Bert, Sammy, Cleary, Emmerton, etc. etc. etc. during camp and in exhibitions.

You know, the least babcock could have done at the start of camp was say that there wouldn't be a fight for roster spots, that depending on your contract, you'd be in or out, because that's exactly how it ended up. Absolutely gutless.
