I always found Grabovski plays bigger than his size. He certainly doesn't shy away from the contact. I'll always remember him hitting Chara and/or getting hit by Chara, getting concussed, then scoring a goal - could have been a game winner, if I'm not mistaken.

He a gamer, but he and Gagner would be up for the same job, although, if one of them could play the wing, bam, a better top six? I don't know what I think the Oilers should do, but where is Mac T's "big moves"...??? #still waiting (was that good for you twitter users? cause, I don't do twitter)

    Bought out Horcoff.
    Signed 2 goaltenders.
    Signed a defensive d-man
Signed a 3rd line C who can win draws

    None of them bad moves.

However, they still need someone who can move bodies to play second line LW (MPS won't fill that role well), a third Line RWer, probably another defenseman as well, and one more solid bottom 6'er. Hemsy should hopefully be a part of acquiring some of these pieces in a couple weeks when free agency has been picked through.

Realistically the team is looking to be:

    Hall - RNH - Eberle/Yakupov
    BIGLWer - Gagner - Yakupov/Eberle
    MPS - Gordon - BIGRWer
    Smyth - Lander - Jones
    Brown

Defense is a hodgepodge but will have J Schultz, Smid, Ference, Petry, N Schultz and whoever can work their way in between the rest

That fourth line is crap won't get the job done but Jones reupped and Smyth won't be retiring - so the team is going to bleed goals there.

I don't see this being enough of a difference to be much more than a maybe marginal improvement, but I could be wrong.

I agree. It isn't much on improvment, imo. If the team has a better record after this coming season (which really is the only way to guage "improvement"), I think it will have more to do with the young players maturing and taking their game to the next level (including Dubnyk) then the offseason moves MacT has made so far.

It isn't that I hate any of the moves he has made so far, but none of the moves get me excited.

Agreed with your lineup but is hemsky, picks and prospects enough to fill those two top 9 spots via trade?

Total brainfart. Knew that of course ... haha.

    Deantime,

Doubt hemsky picks and prospects is enough unless one of those prospects is Klefbom.

The following rumor is being reported by Quebec media:

    Cobourn, Simmonds and Talbot
    for
    Plekanec, Moen and Beaulieu

    https://twitter.com/laportestephane/...48086988038145

Rumors have had Coburn going to the Oilers for a while. Not sure I love it (I've said that before), but if Simmonds would be available as well, I'd really like MacT to work hard to make that happen. Simmonds is the perfect second line winger for us. Not to mention that Talbot would be a nice addition to the bottom six as well.

    C'mon, MacTavish...make it happen!

Thought this deal was false. Horrid deal for the Flyers if there is anything to it.

Why on earth would they need Plekanec?? Another center???

If we manage to land Coburn, I think it only makes sense to get rid of a depth guy or two in the process for next to nothing (Larsen or Potter).

Still feel like our forwards are in more need of an upgrade.

Where does Joensuu fit here? I know very little about him.

Gotta figure he bounces between the AHL and 3/4 line depending on injuries.

Sure sign that it's a rumor because Pleks is involved. Pleks is involved in EVERY armchair GM trade proposal from Habs fans because they want to get rid of him.

How about the Oil taking a run at Jagr. He's still got some miles left in the tank, and has a solid work ethic that would be good for the youngsters.
