Wow... yeah... agreed. Funny to look back at that draft year now. Pretty weak short of some amazing later picks (Forsberg, Tuevo, Vas...hell even the Turtle)

Just a shot in the dark, but the bruins need a back up G and the Oilers need a D and vets.

Why not try a Scrivens or Fasth for Chara, add a little to get it done but why not.

I like it, but Fasth is a UFA.

I was thinking he was but could not find anything, I still think Chara would be a good fit if they could get a deal done.

Someone for the kids to look up to, and I mean look up.

Just after I saw your post I checked his contract and yeah, my mistake.

I'd still love to see Scrivens go to Boston for Chara in some sort of deal. Lots of other options for FA goalies to backup Talbot, and will probably be a lot cheaper than Scrivens too.

It makes sense for Boston to move him while he has some value, and Boston is having some kind of rebuild. Which makes no sense why they moved Hamilton, but that's for another post.

Really looking forward to see what Chiarelli does today, either in signings or even more trades.

There seems to be some talk about teams calling on PC for Yakupov (if you believe the rumours) so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I would love to get big Z out of Boston but I see two problems. First, im not sure Sweeney has the authority to do a full blow up, which is what trading your long time captain amounts to. Second, after the Hamilton situation I think it's clear Boston doesn't want to trade with Chiarelli.

Nice. I saw the Oilers-Golden Bears game and it was pretty good. Draisaitl has been overlooked somewhat with the arrival of McDavid, but he's played very well from what I've seen. Interesting to see how he transition to the wing.

I've heard good things about Draisaitl in camp. McLellan went out of his way on Thursday(?) to say that the "pairing that was interesting to me is Lander-Draisaitl". At first I thought he was going to spend this season in the AHL, now I'm not so sure. Here are the lines for the Oilers playing in Edmonton tonight (split-squad tonight):

    Forward Lines:

    Hall-McDavid-Purcell
    Draisaitl-Lander-Yakupov
    Hamilton-Miller-Pitlick
    Gazdic-Winquist-Ford

    Defencemen:

    Sekera-Fayne
    Ference-Nikitin
    Davidson-Oesterle (Hunt rotating in)

    Goaltenders:

    Talbot
    Laurikainen

Have fun, Lawman. Don't forget to buy a 50/50 ticket. Last year's winning 50/50 went unclaimed, so they are rolling it into tonight's 50/50. Apparently it starts at 49 thousand dollars tonight!
