Maybe they just need glasses or laser eye surgery to help with the focus?

Some of their woes are due to bad luck. I mean, if you lose 4 games in OT, including one with less than a second left on the clock, you obviously are suffering a bit from bad luck. Sometimes it is an untimely goal that should have been saved or an errant pass at the wrong time or a puck that goes off someone's skate. The problem is that "good" teams find a way to recover from bad luck, and they don't often put themselves in a position where one piece of bad luck costs them the game.

I give the Oilers credit for making it to overtime or for keeping the games close against good teams, like Anaheim, but ultimately keeping the games close or losing in overtime isn't good enough, especially for this team. Fans are tired of losses, even losses in which the team played well (or relatively well) for 80% of the game. I'd love to see this team play well for an entire game, and actually handedly win a game, and then string together a few games like that.

Agreed, but in order to play 60 minutes, they gotta WANT it more than the other team...like go through a brick wall or take a Lucic stick to the groin or Burrows face wash, all without retaliating, take a number, get the win, and then get even. Effort. Discipline. Wins...in that order...but hey, why would they do that, they're professionals and many of them get paid like movie stars. I'm still pretty positive on this team and think that the culture/dressing room has to make some changes (that means personnel as well) plus they could use a break here or there and start winning at least a couple of games. Show some signs of life.

Tanking is not something the PLAYERS and COACHing staff are thinking about, that's the media, fans and maybe the owner and GM. Even if the Oilers get the first overall pick in the draft, they aren't going to morph into Chicago or LA or Boston overnight...and they still have to solve their defensive and goaltending issues before they can seriously challenge for a playoff spot. There is some nice talent here already, but management needs to build a TEAM before they can have success. That's not as easy as it may seem.

Lander was just recalled. Not sure exactly where they are going to fit him in on the roster, but the part of me that still believes in Santa Clause and the Tooth Fairy thinks its because they might send Draisaitl away soon.

They had an awesome second period, but part of me knew they would blow the three goal lead, especially against a team like Dallas with the offensive weapons they've got. I thought Edmonton did well to hold off Seguin and Benn for half a game, but I figured they'd eventually make their way onto the scoresheet like they usually do.

5 Stages of Grief/Loss (Or being an Oilers Fan)

    Denial - Definitely, sigh

    Anger - CHECK

    Bargaining - Oh yeah

Depression - Not crippling, but CHECK

Acceptance - Check again, less stress in this zone

Optional stage 6 - Hilarity - Much much more fun watching the Oilers horrendousness and being able to get some laughs from it.

    OILERS IN 2024!
