At $299 I don't see how they could make much money. But yea, I get the support thing.

about the free agent stuff. id love to see mdz go to edmonton even as a rangers fan. we could get some picks for a guy we dont really need and as a mdz fan id love to see him with the oilers(who i also like a lot). i think hed do well there with not so much crowd for defensive ice time. then theyd have two puck moving defesemen which i think would be nice as they definantly are going to have more than one good scoring line.
also if redden counts towards the cap the nyr might as well be playing him in the nhl.

There's been a lot of traction around the idea of trading for Bouwmeester and Frieddman just mentioned it in 30 thoughts too..

Like the article states, I can't see Calgary and Edmonton coming together to make a deal.

As much as I think he would be a great fit in Edmonton, and for the sake of this discussion, what do you think is a good offer for JBo?

I have a couple ideas in my head, but I'd love to know what Oilers fans think.

Unless we were sending a chunk of salary back, ie: Khabibhulin and low-end assets (ie: low end prospects, a 2nd), I don't want J-Bo.

He's a solid minute muncher but his caphit is horrid and the Oil blueline is soft enough as it is.

That being said, if he comes cheaply and we can send back cap (ie: Khabi/Horcoff + 2nd + Hamilton +) I'm all for getting him but if he's going to cost us something significant (ie: MPS + 2nd +) then I'd way rather use those assets for something else.

Krueger feels like the Oilers got two number one picks last season between Schultz and Yakupov.
Mr. Krueger is a great comedian.

I agree. Yakupov should count for two just on his own. 2+1 = 3!!

Can someone please give me some insight into Ryan Whitney?

I am debating about acquiring him in a deal and would love to know if this is a great time to grab him or if I should steer clear.

Assuming the season starts, or even if not, what can we expect from him?

    Thanks

He's got the wonkiest wheel this side of Andrei Markov. Just has not been the same since continually injuring his ankle. He's lost a ton of mobility and it's taken him out of the picture offensively. He still offers a solid veteran presence and can play physically but he's a shadow of what he was. Maybe this extended layoff is what he needs to get back to his top level but I'm sceptical about both his ability to be protective when healthy and to simply remain healthy. Regardless of his health level he will not be the top scoring defenseman for the Oilers. He's going to get PP2 minutes, which on this team isn't actually bad but he'll only be so productive in that role.

Thanks, man. Not what I was hoping for but much appreciated.
