That is awful of you. I really do hope this team makes it to the playoffs. Would just make things way more interesting. I don't see it happening though. Too damn inconsistent.

Well I also wanted the game to be close so they could complete the comeback!

No, but I'm damned close. Maybe if the Oilers were actually in a playoff spot, with a reasonable chance of holding onto it then I'd be all over the on in ice product instead of the fantasy results but let's be real they aren't making the playoffs without some serious luck and real improvement on the ice.

They are three points back with 15 games left and nine of those are at home but really look at this schedule and tell me they have a shot at the playoffs considering they are tied with three other teams for 10th and have another team one point up in 9th. There are so many teams to beat out still! Anyways, look at this schedule:

vs. Vancouver - Van is hot = LOSS
vs. Calgary - You'd think they'd win but this is a classic let down game = WIN
@ Calgary - Kipper eats the Oilers alive even in recent years when they both suck = LOSS
@ Vancouver - Second game of B2B. Not a tough roadie but still = LOSS
    @ Los Angeles - HA! = LOSS
@ Anaheim - Maybe if the Ducks continue this tail spin but I declare = LOSS
vs. Phoenix - Coyotes blow chunks on the road = WIN
vs. Calgary - Two days off at home = WIN
vs. Minnesota - Two more days off at home but Minnesota is tough = LOSS
@ Colorado - Two more days off and Colorado might continue to blow = WIN
vs. Anaheim - Right here the Oilers host the Ducks for two in a row = WIN
vs. Anaheim - I'm guessing they win won and lose one = LOSS
vs. Chicago - Oilers actually play Hawks tough and they could be resting = WIN
@ Minnesota - They've won once in Minnesota in the last six years = LOSS
vs. Vancouver - Terrible schedule having to come cross country home B2B = LOSS

I'd imagine you balance out the wins with a couple of OT/SO losses and you can scrounge together a 6-6-3 record going out but that's not gonna be enough to get in and I think 6-6-3 is generous even though I think that there are some swing games that could get them higher or lower.

Sure, but you'd be surprised. I could see them taking a few of your losses with a small amount of luck.

Yeah, like I said there are some swing games either way so itcould be worse or better but what record gets you into the playoffs and is there enough upside to get you in?

Based on this article where they broke down the average points of the 8-seed since the lockout and then prorated that for a 48-game season you need 55 points to get in. So with 15 games left and at 33 points the Oilers would theoretically need 22 points over those final 15 games. How poorly can they play and still get there?

7-1-7 would allow them to technically be below .500 and still get in but let's be a little more realistic.

10-3-2 would get them in and so would 9-1-4 but that still requires this team to win 60% the rest of the way or better. I can't count on that!

More over, I think there have been more shootout points handed out this year than ever so you might have to mark up the price of qualifying for the playoffs a few points because of that.

All I'm saying is these guys are going to have to get HOT! HOT! HOT! down the stretch particularly because they have no games against direct playoff rivals where they could straight steal points with the exception of the Phoenix game but honestly, I'm not worried about Phoenix. I'm worried about Detroit, San Jose, Nashville and St. Louis because all of those teams are better both on paper and in the standings and they won't have a chance to prove otherwise because they've got no more games against them.

They whooped Vancouver tonight. So that's a good start to making a push. I hope they pull it off as that club's fans need a taste of the playoffs badly.

Of course Dubnyk gets a shutout tonight...the day after I deal him.

Oh well...happy about Hall and RNH producing!

Hall has quietly put up more than a point-per-game this season. Perhaps that's just where I am, but I rarely see much talk about him on here. He's really playing a lot better.

Well he's gotta make sure the Barons have a solid playoff run since the big club probably won't.

Anyone hear what their offer for Bishop was? I'm curious because going after him strikes me as a smack in the face to what Dubnyk has done this season, although I've probably got my rose coloured glasses on with regard to him.

I heard it was a couple of picks. 2nd and 5th. Something like that. Could have included a depth guy like Jones too. But not sure exactly. Heard it on team 1260

I'm fine without getting him. I do like the theory of another tender to push the number 1 but bishop would make it a goalie controversy. Rather have a guy like Khabby to just play behind him.

Hopin we can re-sign him for 1 year at 1.2 mill

Well if that's all they were dangling then that's not so worrisome. Still begs the question why they didn't get in on him a year ago though when the cost would have been just a pick.
