Finally! All our troubles are over! Omark has been called up. The road to the Cup starts right now.

Omark looked decent. Yakupov is coming around. Playing better defensively and making smarter plays.

    Goaltending and defense still horrific.

Is Larsen worth adding at this point? Is there a chance Shultz is out for a while or is this gonna be a quick stint then back to the AHL for Larsen.

Schultz is doing drills and getting pretty close, so I wouldn't add Larsen.

In other news more smoke regarding the Flyers and Eberle right now.

I've said this a few times after Oilers games this year, but they played an overall decent game last night against Tampa, just not enough to win. Bishop was also awesome.

It's somewhat encouraging to seem them actually in the game when they lose, but at the end of the day a loss is a loss and they just keep piling up.

    My take?
First off, Lawton is a thoughtful analyst and it’s always a pleasure when he’s used by Sportsnet.

The only bad part of Yakupov playing on the 4th line right now is that he doesn't even deserve to be playing there. He should be in the minors or in junior as he is not currently a valid NHL option. He has ZERO compete right now and you cannot play in the NHL like that.

What good does that do? He comes in and could sign elsewhere. Only do it if there's a sign and trade, otherwise why give up the assets?

Shhh. The world is worried about the Lightning, the Canucks, and the Rangers right now. Let's just not talk about the Oilers for a while, it's kind of nice.

Obviously, only if we could sign him long term. I would immediately make Callahan the Captain, I think he'd be a MASSIVE step in the right direction to help change the culture of this team. A guy that brings it each and every night with an insane compete level, exactly what we need. Although not huge, Cally would also show our team of softies that you don't have to be 6'2", 200 to finish your checks, play physical defensively-sound hockey, and be extremely hard to play against. He would make a huge difference on our PK and would be a much-needed effective front of net presence on the PP.
