The only realistic move I see happening is signing Hanzal or maybe Bonnino.

But we're more likely to get Boyd Gordon.

I know the Habs are drafting pretty high up (or far down, however you want to see it), but have any of you heard any rumors as to which player(s) they were targeting?

Some are saying Yamamoto may still be on the board at that point, others say that they have to go with Comptois as a hometown pick since he should still be there...

Most of this stuff was said by insiders and analysts but I have yet to heard whispers coming from the Canadiens camp like the year Leblanc was targeted early by them.

I don't think the Habs will have their first round pick. I see them trading it as part of a deal to upgrade their center position. But it will be closer to the draft day, if not right on the draft day itself.

I don't know if that pick holds a ton of value. I mean, once upon a time they moved a late 1st for Alex Tanguay.

That's why it's part of a deal, not the main piece. But I'd be surprised if they still have that pick.

You actually think this year is the year that Bergy actually addresses his need for a C?? Watch... he'll trade Galchenyuk for RNH

I think he'll overpay for Duchene, or try to get someone like Thornton. My guess is he'll go the trade route.

I really think MB needs to do both. Duchene alone or Thornton alone is not enough to address the holes at center.
But if he can find a way to acquire 2 potent centers (1 by trading and 1 by signing), Habs will be a different team comes October.

I'm thinking they'll sign one guy. It'll be like the trade deadline. Keep beating around the bush instead of addressing the problem.

    YAY (sarcastically)!

Habs sign Andreas Martinsen to a 1-year, 1-way, $675K deal (it's actually not a bad signing for a depth guy... would have preferred a 2-way contract but I doubt he would have signed it at that amount)

I liked Martinsen and felt he was unfairly scratched in favor of Dwight King's "experience"

Exactly! He was the best of MB's plethora of deals on draft day IMO. I actually believed King would have been a decent depth player but he was just horrible!!
