As for Price being traded, I too just shut the radio off when I hear a news caster or fan suggest that to ''fix'' the Habs.

    Completely agree about Weber.

If you put Weber back on Nashville though would they be in the same spot they are now? Probably.

Which is more of a testament to how they've built their roster than Weber/Subban, which is why I think Poile deserves the GM award.

Since we all wear our pink glasses now...
Since we all know Habs need a #1 center...
Since it's a slow day at work...
I went thru each team to see wich/if centers could be available for the Habs.
Now, let me be clear, I don't say MB should/could do these moves.
It's a brainstrom. Just looking at any possible solutions.
And I would like you to give your input on these suggestions or adding some if you any other ideas...

    1) Sign J.Thornton for 1-2 years and continue to look for a #1 center
    2) Trade for J.Tavares vs (insert your package here) (throwing names I would say Patch + Galchenyuk + Beaulieu + ...) (or Price and then trade for Fleury)
    3) Trade for Duchene
    4) Trade for Spezza
    5) Offer sheet Kuznetzov
    6) Offer sheet Bennett
    7) Offer sheet Draisaitl
    8) Feel free to add yours

I'm assuming you're being facecious here, correct?

I don't think Sam Bennett is ready to be a number one centre either though, and could end up along the same developmental path as Galchenyuk.

Spezza/Duchene are both possibilities. Kuz would have to be given a massive offersheet not to have it matched. I do wonder if they could pull the old Phil Kessel type of deal off and trade for him instead of submitting an offersheet.

Speaking of Kessel trades, the Leafs could trade Mtl their old #1 centre in Tyler Bozak

I think Thornton makes the best sense, but I think he'll re-sign in San Jose after the expansion draft.

Writer of the weekly Top 10 column.

12-team Keeper pool, straight points for forwards & dmen. Goalies get: 2 points per win, 3 per shutout, 1 point per assist & 1 point per shootout loss.

    League champ in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2022.

Top 8 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies count.

We keep 15 players (any position) plus two rookies.

Forwards: Panarin, Ovechkin, Kopitar, Stamkos, Tuch, Rust, Marchessault, Pavelski, Miller, Bertuzzi, Stone, Kakko, Brown, Stankoven, Kovalenko
Defence: Hedman, Fox, Matheson, Thrun, Jiricek
Goalies: Kochetkov, Talbot, Vasilevskiy, Campbell, Schmid

I was talking about Thornton with my buddy last night.

Would be great if he we could sign him, but I just don't see him leaving San Jose and I can't really see San Jose letting him walk for nothing.
I would bet they re-sign him for a short cheap deal and then depending on their standings later in the season move him at the deadline.

I am fully prepared for another summer of nothing moves / signings.
The only realistic move I see happening is signing Hanzal or maybe Bonnino.

But we're more likely to get Boyd Gordon.

Apparently Michel Therrien is in the mix for the Panthers job. It'll work for about a year or two until he starts getting attached to the vets. Then it'll start going downhill and newcomers will have a lot of trouble catching on.
