Getting bigger just to get bigger. The whole size issue is so overrated. Although we shouldn't be surprised when grown men get insecure about their "size" problems.

Jo. Benn, Davidson, Ott, King... Is this the AHL?

I get the whole size + character thing Bergevin is doing here, but this is not what will get them to the next level IMO.

Actually, I don't get the whole size thing. Character, sure, but that's hardly quantifiable. Looking at past Cup winners and contenders, has size really been at the center of their team identity? Pittsburgh and Chicago are high speed, high skill teams. Sure, the Kings won with a ton of size but this whole line of thinking that you need to be big to win in the playoffs is such a lie that I just don't get it.

I like King, I like Benn, I like Davidson, would prefer not to have Ott.

But none of these pieces are changing the look of this team.

This is bad. It seems like Bergervin is only looking for size instead of actually trying to upgrade his team. Does he have a hard-on for big bearded men? Jeez...

It's all window-dressing. Pretends to address a need.

Totally. As someone said in the trade deadline thread, it's been done only so Bergevin can say he's done his job.

I'm still hoping for something else but if Bergevin is done and adresses the media as someone who just upgraded his team, I'm going to be pissed.

Well I mean the team is better than it was before.....but yeah not the splash we were all hoping for.

    Benn is better than Pateryn
King is better than a 4th round pick
Ott is better than a 6th round pick
Martisen and Andrighetto probably a wash, ghetto may have been better.

I'm not so sure we're better. I liked the Benn deal but otherwise, I'm not so sure what King, Ott and Martinsen get us. They won't score more than the players we have now. They'll get more hits? Yay!

I'd say the team is mildly better. It's Carey or nothing come playoff time.

Don't get me wrong, I still like the team. I think the D is strong and underrated (especially if Petry-Beaulieu start playing well again) and Price will be fine. But if we were to make moves today, it was to get some goals not some size, that's why I'm disappointed.

    What's the lineup now?

    Pacioretty-Danault-Radulov
    Lekhonen-Galchenyuk-Gallagher
    King-Plekanec-Shaw
    Byron-Mitchell-Ott
    McCarron, Flynn, Martinsen

    That's my guess.

I am stoked! These guys are really going to help with our lack of scoring. Put them all together and we have ourselves a 15 goal scorer.

Vanek? Vrbata? Pffft. Martinsen is the one we really want!

It's also great to bring in a guy who has won the cup. He and Shaw can regale the others with their stories. It will be almost as good as winning one themselves.

I would imagine Ott is 4th line C given his faceoff abilities.
