I actually hope we hold on to Gilbert...I think he's a half-decent DMan who has a bit of offensive upside.

Interesting article....was definitely noticeable in the game last night. Fleischmann and Eller getting loads of icetime, obvious a little show casing going on. No doubt Weise would have been up there as well.

Pretty obvious the orders are to focus on selling. Season is over.

Has MaxPac quit on the season as well? He just looks lost out there at times. Like that OT shift yesterday.

Not sure but if he does something wrong Subban will get blamed.

I would say he has quit...Seems strangely similar to the 2009 Penguins, who had had enough with Therrein. Crosby and the boys were completely different players after the firing.

....of course Montreal won't be anywhere close to a cup this year

Wow crazy season for the Habs.

What was their record the first 20 games?

Price went down (for the 2nd time) on Nov 25th (I think).
Habs were then 17-4-2 (23 games).
From this date, they are 11-23-3 (37 games).

All I remember was the first time Price went down they were still rolling and everyone though Condon could still keep them afloat.

Pretty crazy. All they had to do was play .500 hockey.

What moves do you guys make if you're the GM?

I wouldn't resign him, and I would be surprised if Montreal did so.

Gilbert will be 33 come next season, and off a knee surgery. He has been good defensively for the Habs, but he doesn't provide any upside offensively. I think its a role Pateryn can fill at the moment and slot him on the right side. There will be some growing pains with Pateryn but he has shown promise as a reliable stay at home defender when called upon by the Habs the past two seasons. Montreal will be better off to let Gilbert walk and bring the youngster into full duty.

That's tough. Personally I try to move Desharnais, not that many teams would take him but he would fit in nicely on a teams 3rd line.

Plekanec is another guy I would consider if the return was good, but his Houdini work in the playoffs hurts his value imo. To me, I don't see him as a valuable piece in Montreal's future. The problem of course, he's a centreman and the best one Montreal has (since Chucky doesn't get more than 5 shifts at the position). This move would kill the pivot position for the Habs but with the upcoming draft.

Gilbert was supposed to be moved but the knee injury ended those hopes.

We can hope for Emelin to be moved but he has a full NMC, so its not going to happen.

Lot of people (including myself) want Eller moved. Personally I have to change my stance on this. Eller is a great in a 3rd line role and has been an effective shut down centerman. He is widely respected around the NHL by management. I think we just get blindsided by the fact he was a first round pick, was traded for a top goalie (Halak...at the time) so we expect him to put up more numbers offensively. Watching some more film on him, he brings other intangibles to the game that go unnoticed on stat sheets.

Other guys like Smith-Pelley, Fleischmann and of course Weise I would move.

And once the seasons is over, fire Therrein on black Monday.

Beaulieu is out next game. I believe it was his ankle that he hurt while crashing the net.

Gilbert won't be re-signed because of the younger guys coming up behind him. It's nothing against him. He's been pretty good when in a more limited role.
