I always felt sorry for Saku, such a fantastic player and total warrior. Spent his best years with the Habs during the teams most troubled era.

Thankfully Saku's role of playing with leftovers now belongs to Plekanec on line 2 instead of the top line. Baby steps...

Can't wait until the leftovers are found on the bottom 6...

Not sure if it can be done internally though; actually I'm pretty sure it can't. Hopefully Galchenyuk blossoms into something special. In terms of Scherbak, I'm not sure. I know he won't be a superstar, but a good 2nd liner would be nice. McCarron and even Thomas could be sweet surprises down the line, but I don't see any imminent rising stars.

It will be interesting to see what he does. But at that price, it was worth the gamble to try to get more offence in the lineup.

At least it costs next to nothing. The biggest problem is that the alternatives are not great if Semin doesn't work out.

I'm uncertain about this kid. He's a great junior player but I don't know if he will ever be an NHLer...

That's why those ELCs are two-way. Let him develop in the minors for a while. Might as well try.

Don't get me wrong, I get the whole "cheap contract on short term so minimal risk". My biggest worry here is that he works out during the regular season and they start relying on him to bring offense, but then he fades away in the playoffs like he often does (34 points in 51 playoff games (0,67 ppg), and if you look at the last three times he played in the postseason he got 12 points in 30 games (0,40 ppg).
    On a fantasy hockey break.

I'll go with 42 but that factors in some games missed.

Good call! Ok then I'd say 58 in 75 games (almost a full season).
