Would you guys give Semin a shot (1 year deal) in a top-6 role?

I don't think it will happen because Semin has potential to turn into another Parenteau which left the team with no true alternative for L2. I guess at the right price you can do worse than giving him a shot though.

If it's cheap enough, I could see them trying. But I don't think it would work out all too good. I just don't have a good feeling about him.

Just discussed about that with a friend yesterday.
1 year at under 3M$ should/could be a good move to find some offense.
I can't see NHL caliber offense for a 2nd line coming from inside...
    Sherbak? Hudon? Andrighetto?
    Smith-Pelly? Kassian?
    Rather try Semin.
Keeper league (12 teams) - keep 6 (+ NHL team is auto keep)
    Weekly lineup: 1T, 9F, 4D, 1G
    Points only:
    Forwards & Dmen: goal (1), assist (1)
    Goalies: win (2), otl/sol (1), shutout (2)
    Team: win (2), otl/sol (1)
Only 2 FA pickups for the season (remaining: 0)

    [T] Edmonton
    [F] Panarin, Pettersson, Bedard
    [D] Heiskanen, Theodore, Dobson
    [G]

Exactly. I was listening to the Fan690 and they were saying Scherbak was the only prospect that really stood out recently.

They also said that he could come in and potentially get a shot on the second line, but I think it would be a mistake. I would let him mature a tad more in the AHL and then go from there.

Hence why I think they need an NHLer (free agent or trade) to come in and play a top-6 role this coming year.

Scherbak is talented enough but he wouldn't be able to do it consistently all year.

I don't know... 34 points in 51 NHL playoff games, especially taking into account that his 1st two playoffs were good (8 pts in 7 games and 14 pts in 14 games) leaves 12 points in his last 30 NHL playoff games... We already have Plekanec whos offense seems to disappear in the playoffs.

I'd rather Bergevin get help via trades. (I know, it's much easier said than done!)
    On a fantasy hockey break.

Good sign there; especially the 2-way part! Bourny can come in a fill-in for an injured player and play an NHL-caliber game.

I don't see him as an impact player going forward, but he can be a full-time NHLer for sure (3rd or 4th line depth role).

I didn't even think he was still playing beer league.

He was actually good this year too, doubling his point total from last year. Seems to me like he planned his own retirement tour and brought his A game.

His beer league days were in the mid-90s to early 2000s.

Which reminds me, I thought we had a tacit agreement to not ever discuss that time period in this thread. It. Never. Happened.

I only put a ban on discussing the Gomez trade. But your request is being taken into consideration.

Actually, what are we talking about here???
