Sucks that with the new deal so many fans have to basically bend over and get screwed.

I hadn't realized the RDS broadcasts were national in previous years.

This looks like a win for English-speakers in the East (who now get to watch all 82 games in English), but a loss for fans West of Ottawa.

I don't have TVA but I think I will add it to my channel selection after suffering through parts of the Sportsnet broadcast last night. I got home late and only got to watch the third period, but I caught the last part of the intermission between the second and third and it was pretty brutal.

No reason for these black-outs to happen especially when people are paying to have these channels in the first place.

Subban/Emelin seem to be getting more stable. The one downside here is that both like to leave their position to look for big hits and neither one is a high-end positional defender. Yesterday they definitely looked better than in previous games in the preseason.

    I have TVA, TVA Sports 1 & 2. I live in NB.
I know guys, I live in Ottawa and would have access to TVA as well but to get it I have to pay to get cable, then a package upgrade, then extra for the TVA channel.... My comment was more like wtf cable companies forced us to basically pay through the nose to get Habs games. I've lived in Ottawa for 12 years now and access to the Habs basically went from: access through basic cable at reasonable cost, to access through upgraded cable at reasonable cost, to access to HD cable at not so reasonable cost, to no access at unreasonable cost, to needing to switch packages and/or providers at unreasonable cost. All for Habs games. Like wtf?!?!

I ended up cutting cable altogether as I was so fed up with it and will go the internet / Apple TV device route, and they found a way to screw us even there, blacking out the Habs from Ottawa, because where before it was an advantage to be a Habs broadcast region (see: access to all 82 games through basic cable) it has now become a disadvantage (blackout on devices unless you fork over 200$ per month for Habs games. It would cost me less to watch all 82 games in a bar with two pints per game than it would to watch it at home on my own tv. What the eff is wrong with this picture?!?!?

Yeah Cable companies want our last penny for their service.

When I said I had TVA, I was under the impression you had cable. My bad.

I wouldn't mind getting rid of that bill... maybe someday.

They are bending fans over the table and making use of their giant stick.

    also,

Is it just me or did Galchenyuk look like a beast last night?
I see great things coming from him. So strong on loose puck battles and had creates a ton of chances.

Just wanted to mention an observation from this summer that I may or may not have posted somewhere on the forum but with the Malhotra signing Plekanec will be playing a more offensive role. Not as many D-zone starts with a top faceoff man taking a lot of that load. Plek will have a chance to get more points than in recent years. Probably not much but I think he could be in for a small increase.

Well he and Galchenyuk sure look pretty good out there.

Galchenyuk definitely looks a lot more comfortable with the puck on his stick is how I would describe it. With his ability, the confidence will go a long way I feel.

    First period was absolutely brutal.

Back to back away games to start off the season can't be easy.

Nice to see them pull two wins out of their hats, though.

Malhotra looks like a very clever signing so far.

How long before Bourque wakes up and realizes that he's Rene Bourque?

Yeah they were awful in the 1st, completely outplayed...they looked much better after that.
Beaulieu is playing well for the most part, looks poised for the most part
Tokarski was solid, we're in great shape in nets all around
