Quick question. Anyone know where I could find a copy of Koivu's first game back for Montreal when he returned from cancer? I've been trying to fiind it for a while, can never find it.

Top 8 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies count.

We keep 15 players (any position) plus two rookies.

Forwards: Panarin, Ovechkin, Kopitar, Stamkos, Tuch, Rust, Marchessault, Pavelski, Miller, Bertuzzi, Stone, Kakko, Brown, Stankoven, Kovalenko

The only thing I can find is the pre-game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HS9dbVL7PKk

On a related note, I covered Subban in Capped this week: http://hockey.dobbersports.com/Capped/eric-daoust

Eric, I chalk that up simply to the fact that everyone who was going to comment on the Subban signing in this thread just commented on it in that thread, perhaps we should merge the threads.

Not after the direction that thread took.

I just think Habs fans are mostly happy that it got done while non-fans are going to be in the business of debating the contract's value.

Yup, although you also saw lots of non-Habs fans that argued in favor of it being a reasonable risk for the Habs to take on that contract. The most vociferous anti-signing commenters included among them a few pure (and notorious) "Habs-haters". whose views frankly are not worth all that much.

I still see this signing as just fine, we lock up Subban through AGE 33 at $9M - by the time we reach say the 6th year of his contract, the 2019/20 season, when he'll be hitting 30 the cap might be at $80-$90 easily, in which case you could see Dmen of his caliber making 11-12M (cap hit) no problem. So we'll have Subban at a significant discount for elite NHL dmen, during his prime years (30-32). Of course the cap could go down, but if that's the case most teams would face significant cap problems.

Yeah, when I was referring to non-fans I meant that they seemed to be more vocal about it, regardless of what side they fell on. There were many on both sides. Meanwhile, Habs fans (myself included) are more relieved and just see it as the cost of doing business. You can't get to the top without stars and at some point you have to pay them.

yeah, and Subban is not just a star, he's a generational level super-star (in my opinion) and we all know that, to the Habs, he's the most exciting player we've had since Lafleur and the impact he has on the fans at the Bell Center is incredible. This is the part where the non-Habs fans, who haven't seen quite as many games, dispute, that he's that high level of a defenseman - that plus his personality contributes to much of the negative commentary on Subban's contract.

Thanks. I've always wanted the whole game, because of the fact the Habs won, the celebration when they scored the game winner with a couple of minutes left, etc.

I was pretty disappointed that game wasn't on the Habs 10-game boxset a few years back.

It is odd that there are no other videos around (that I know of) but I guess the fact that it wasn't a playoff game and wasn't full of brawls means it's not as youtube-friendly as other games.

Let me know if anyone comes across a copy somehow. I would also love one, given that Saku Koivu is one of the very few people I call my heroes.

Some Habs stuff posted online the last few days.

NHL.com had the Habs as their team preview on Thursday.

Thanks for that. I was especially interested in the top 10 prospects list mainly because I'm currently doing the top 10 Habs prospects for DobberProspects. To compare the two lists...

    NHL.com:

    1) Jacob de la Rose
    2) Nikita Scherbak
    3) Jiri Sekac
    4) Michael McCarron
    5) Zach Fucale
    6) Charles Hudon
    7) Sven Andrighetto
    8) Tim Bozon
    9) Artturi Lehkonen
    10) Dalton Thrower

    My top 10 on Dobberprospects:

    1) Nathan Beaulieu*
    2) Christian Thomas
    3) Nikita Scherbak
    4) Sven Andrighetto
    5) Jiri Sekac
    6) Charles Hudon
    7) Artturi Lehkonen
    8) Jacob de la Rose
    9) Dustin Tokarski*
    10) Martin Reway

*NHL.com probably does not consider Beaulieu and Tokarski as prospects. My next two would be Tim Bozon and Daniel Carr. My new top 10:

    1) Christian Thomas
    2) Nikita Scherbak
    3) Sven Andrighetto
    4) Jiri Sekac
    5) Charles Hudon
    6) Artturi Lehkonen
    7) Jacob de la Rose
    8) Martin Reway
    9) Tim Bozon
    10) Daniel Carr

The prospects lists on NHL.com includes only Calder eligible prospects... Beaulieu played at least 6 games in the last two seasons.

Yeah that was my assumption. That's why I added two other prospects so we can compare apples to apples. Just for fun of course.

What are your criteria for your top-10? Is it purely based on potential, or does the proximity of the player to the NHL has a major impact as well?
