Right now I'm just happy that the big sad Bruins are done with. Ask me the same question tomorrow and you'll get a better answer.

I tend to agree although the Kings tend to go to sleep for long stretches even in the playoffs. Amazing that they've gotten away with it this year.

I agree with this as well. Habs don't match up well against the Kings (they pretty much ran over us when we played them this season).

Habs played the Hawks pretty good though. Dominated them in a 2-1 victory, and then were evenly matched in a 2-1 OT loss. Much rather the Hawks, then the Ducks.

    Some unsung heroes from yesterday:

Brandon Prust: Took two hits to make the opening goal possible.

Mike Weaver: Such a great acquisition that cost as much as it did to get Davis Drewiske.

Michael Bournival: Way undersized but plays so damn hard every shift. Very effective on the forecheck.

The team is also pretty healthy going into round 3. My biggest concern is Bournival who takes a beating every night and is clearly playing through a lot of pain.

It's not about the best matchup in objective terms.

You guys either lack a sense of poetry or are too young to reminiscence about the glorious run of 93.

After twenty years of heartbreak, if I can finally start dreaming about the possibility of seeing the Habs in the finals (long way to go still, I know), I think it'd be neat to have it be against the Kings again.

That said, I don't really think any team would be a good matchup for the Habs, but if I had to pick my poison, it would probably be the Ducks.

Anyhow, first things first. Rangers here we come!

Considering how many years it took to have this promising of an outlook I'd be ok with the 2014 Oilers being in the finals as the opponent. Beggars can't be choosers.

    A couple fun facts:

-The combined score in games 6 & 7 was 7-1.

-Price is 5-0 with a .984 save percentage this year in games facing elimination.

Those ARE fun facts. Let's keep this going against the Rangers! Bergevin's moves have really worked out well and there has to be a credit to the room and coaching staff fitting those pieces in. Vanek needs a little more umph (what else is new) and the team needs a good rest but we are in all-out playoff mode and it is really fun to watch. Therrien will have them prepared for the Rangers. Go HABS GO!

Seems like every decision made my Therrien or Bergevin works out in the end. Seems weird but it's the second year that things have really started falling into place. Weise and Weaver have especially been awesome playoff warrior types to fill out the depth.

Vanek to me comes across a lot like Malkin (but less talented/consistent of course). Both can get lazy but they are so talented that they get by anyway and plays that generate goals are super important so it all becomes justified. I don't think it comes as a surprise to anyone though. Vanek was not new to the league at the time of the trade.

Who sits out when Chucky comes back?

Seems to me it's probably going to be Bournival even if he's playing lights out. Prust and Weise are needed for their size, Bourque-Eller-Gionta has been a very solid line and there's no way you sit down Brière now. So that leaves Bournival.

I guess a lot will depend on how the Habs fare in game 1 since Galchenyuk has already been ruled out for that game.

Bournival is insanely beat up so it wouldn't surprise me if he was subbed out. Maybe Galchenyuk sits on the sidelines for longer if Therrien doesn't want to break his lineup.
