Once again apologies for the lack of post-game updates. Real life has been kicking my ass the last few months. At this point it's more fatigue than actually not being around.

Regarding the Habs' lineup I found a nice feature from Daily Faceoff that gives a nice visual of the latest line combinations.

    http://www2.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/l...real-canadiens

    A couple observations about this:
-Best part: no Rene Bourque. This team is just fine with him in the stands until the offseason.
-Prust should be the guy to go up if a top-nine forward gets hurt. And White should take his spot on the fourth line. Again, all of this can be done without Bourque (unless there are multiple injuries... in which case why not call up Bournival first?)
-I like Tinordi's skating and strength but I don't think he offers enough yet to be a full-time dman on a playoff team. Murray is probably just getting some rest right now as he is too valuable to fall out of the mix.

Vanek with Pacioretty and Desharnais. Vanek hat-trick.

Merci Therrien. Stick with this combo! Great game last night.

Must be injury, bc I don't see why he would be scratched. He was playing decent and had the stats to back it up, offensively at least. White just doesn't get it, IMO. His long-term future is not with the Habs (I hope). He has flashes of smart grinder hockey but is not a full-timer type of player to me.

Prust was hurt to the arm/shoulder last game before getting his points. Has to be related to that. I think White can be a good 4th liner. Not great, but decent. He might be stuck bouncing around the league when teams try to get more out of his roster spot though. Not easy being at the bottom of a lineup...

Not easy indeed and it wouldn't be uncommon for him to be a part-timer. Many in that role are. He's ok, but just ok.

A couple random observations from Habs/CBJ game:

-Price was solid overall but that third goal hurts. Shot was well placed but in a tight game that's a tough one to have go in.
-Tinordi's turnover was part of a theme. Habs were not good defensively and in the puck possession game.
-Habs' PK played very well but this is the second game in a row where the team gets beat clean up the middle by a guy stickhandling (EJ in Avs game, Johansen last night)
-Habs took a bunch of dumb penalties which killed all momentum. Keeps the defenders tired and the guys that don't play on PK can become sluggish without regular minutes.
-Eller is able to do some things well but when he has the puck he gives me the impression that he has a bunch of eggs in his pocket. Way too soft when the puck goes on his stick.

Yep that's how I read it. Also, Johansen is a beast, but I loved how Pacioretty showed him who's boss. Bobrovsky and the Columbus defence collapsed well, blocking all sorts of lanes and shots. They are not the Blue Jackets of the early/mid 2000s, nor will they be. This team is growing. Gallagher looked good and I like him with Plekanec because Plucky and his line need a spark. Plucky looks tired and slow. He's had to pick up a lot of slack because of Eller sucking. Vanek is a pure sniper. He should stop trying to pass so much. I think on this team he'll shoot more than he did in NYI and BUF this year. Tinordi knows he screwed up. I don't expect him to make that mistake again this year, or ever.

I think Gallagher could find a way to spark a line with two goons.

Eller reminds me of Maxim Afinogenov. Lots of skill, but absolutely no finish.

Looks like Bourque is a top-9 forward again.
