    Canadiens 6, Penguins 5 (SO)

    Overall thoughts

Three points out of four without Price is a good big picture result. The last two nights offered some frustrating hockey but in the end they continue to make a push to clinch their playoff spot. The officials were horrible tonight. Lots of phantom calls including the major penalty that allowed the Habs to tie it in the third.

    Petr Budaj

Not his best game but he continued battling and was just good enough to win in the end. He was weak on the short side early in the game which created most of his problems.

    Pacioretty - Desharnais - Gallagher

Consistent offense from these three. Very timely as well with bounce-back goals when Budaj was faltering.

    Daniel Briere

He is so flawed because of his lack of size/strength but he can also produce in a hurry. Pretty efficient game with two goals and three points in just nine minutes.

    PK Subban

He had some good moments but probably had the worst play of his career on the Sutter shorthanded goal. Boneheaded in every way possible.

    Andrei Markov

Solid night at both ends of the rink. His stability was necessary in this type of game.

Any word on Price? I'm debating on making a big trade in my keeper pool, but without a healthy Price, it's all for naught.

12-team Keeper pool, straight points for forwards & dmen. Goalies get: 2 points per win, 3 per shutout, 1 point per assist & 1 point per shootout loss.

    League champ in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2022.

Top 8 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies count.

We keep 15 players (any position) plus two rookies.

Forwards: Panarin, Ovechkin, Kopitar, Stamkos, Tuch, Rust, Marchessault, Pavelski, Miller, Bertuzzi, Stone, Kakko, Brown, Stankoven, Kovalenko
Defence: Hedman, Fox, Matheson, Thrun, Jiricek
Goalies: Kochetkov, Talbot, Vasilevskiy, Campbell, Schmid

They said he's traveling with the team for the West coast trip. My guess is he'll be back at some point this week.

Yeah, I heard that as well. I was hoping someone knew something more definitive.

The lack of a definitive answer is concerning. I have no doubt that he will be back before too much time passes but when that happens will he really be 100% (impossible to know before he gets back in the grind) and will he have to miss additional time?

Habs acquire Weaver for a 5th. Good value acquisition but too many dman bodies around. I'm not sure if there is any demand for Bouillon as he should be the odd man out.

Habs dman depth chart right now:

    P.K. Subban
    Andrei Markov
    Josh Gorges
    Alexei Emelin
    Douglas Murray
    Mike Weaver
    Francis Bouillon
    Jarred Tinordi

...with Drewiske and Beaulieu on farm.

Some much needed scoring help on the wing with Vanek.

I'm pretty pleased with this one.

Great pickup. Especially if they only gave up Collberg and a conditional second.

Collberg is a good prospect except he kept bolting back to Sweden where he couldn't find a way to climb the depth chart and produce. Not sure about him down the road. He slipped on draft day for a reason.

That's 23 names there. Once Vanek gets in, 24. I'm guessing at least one guy will be sent down.

I'm guessing Bournival gets the shaft barring injuries to himself or anyone else.

Just a heads up, I may not have a post-game report up again tonight due to the start time of the game. It's late and I have to be up at 7am. I might write up something on break at work but no promises there. Discussion is always welcome though.
