Drewiske re-signs for two years. Not sure about this one. I like the player but the team has too many bodies. I guess this means Weber is out while Drewiske plays the #7 press box role.
    Very surprised by this one.

Subban-Markov-Diaz-Gorges-Emelin (when healthy) are locks in the top 6. Bouillon-Weber-Tinordi-Drewiskie will battle fos spots 6-7. I guess that Weber is on his way out and that Tinordi will start go back to Hamilton when Emelin comes back.

Unless Bergevin has other plans for his blue line...

The signing itself is small but the side-effects are significant. I do think Weber goes. I hope they get something for his rights because from everything I've heard there are teams that would like to have him as a RHD. I might be wrong but getting a 4th round pick or something like that would be alright.

Tinordi and Beaulieu are probably starting in Hamilton. Well, Tinordi probably replaces Emelin until he is back healthy and at that point the Habs could always waive/demote Drewiske if they want to slide Bouillon into the #7 role.

I'm just surprised that they locked up Drewiske now. It's probably a small fee but if they miss out on him this summer I'm sure a similar guy like Adam Pardy could be signed for dirt cheap too.

What surprises me most is that it is a two-year deal. I can understand that they want security next season since Emelin's knee will be newly repair, but why the second year? I guess they already know that they won't bring Bouillon back again. But like you said, there are numerous opitions for the #7 D spot...

I think he'll start the season in the AHL and will only be called up if needed. I like the signing though.

Agreed, it's simply a depth move and hurts nothing, especially if he's in the AHL. Emelin won't be back until November at best. Easier to sign Drewiske for a small amount then take a chance on something like Pardy. Devil you know vs Devil you don't.

I was only pointing out the idea of waiting to see what options are there in July/August rather than making the signing in June. I like Drewiske but he is basically interchangeable with about 300 other depth dmen out there. It's not a bad thing either way.

Interesting fact I just found out: Apparently, the Habs once traded for Don Cherry. Got him from the Red Wings for cash.

I'm guessing it was for the price of a suit.

Lots of mock drafts. Here are some:

Habs Eyes on the Prize: D Samuel Morin

The Hockey News had the Habs taking G Zach Fucale.

Last Word on Sports has F J.T. Compher.

Mynhldraft.com has the Habs taking D Madison Bowey (they had F Frederick Gauthier there a week ago).

So lots of options for the Habs. No player, or even position, seems to the frontrunner though.

I think the Habs end up using one of the 2nds along with 25 to trade up.

The Ryder/Cole deal did some great things for the team. Now everything they do is gravy. Hopefully not the type of gravy that hurts them long-term though...
