Grabbing Gionta isn't a bad idea, but he won't take pacioretty's spot on the PP, since he already logs plenty of PP time with his line. With Plekanec and Bourque, his line has been the best of the team so far. I think that the two main candidtes to take MaxPac spot on the PP are Galchenyuk and Eller, with Gallagher with an outside chance. I would put my money on Galchenyuk. He was seeing minimal ice time until now, but Therrien could use this opening to give him more responsibilities on the PP.

Weber is playing tonight, Kaberle sits this one.

    From TSN Ice chips:

    Saturday's Practice Lines
    Forwards:
    Eller - Desharnais - Cole
    Bourque - Plekanec - Gionta
    Prust - Galchenyuk - Gallagher
    Moen - White - Armstrong

    Defence:
    Markov - Emelin
    Gorges - Diaz
    Kaberle - Bouillon

    Goaltending:
    Price
    Budaj

So if Kaberle is indeed out then Weber will be on the third pair. Eller is on the top line as I expected although the way the ice time has been distributed it looks more like three 2nd lines.

Weber has historically been bad when he's in and out of the press box so keep an eye on that. He appears to be scared of making a mistake and tightens up.

Default Devils 3, Canadiens 4 (OT)

    Team record: 3-1-0 (6 points).

I missed large chunks of the game due to a variety of things but I did see a few things and got caught up with the highlights. If anyone has other thoughts please share.

Player of the game: Alex Galchenyuk. He is up to three points in four games with a pair of great feeds today. He is great positionally which gives him the advantage when creating chances to score.

Andrei Markov scored the game winning goal in overtime. He pinches a lot but never gets caught out of position. He knows how to navigate the ice. He played 30 minutes.

Carey Price stopped 22 of 25 (.880) which is not great statistically but I did see several nice saves. I'm not sure how he was overall since I missed about half the game.

Brendan Gallagher scored his first NHL goal on a one-timer from Galchenyuk. The two work very well together. Gallagher has earned his spot in Montreal.

We have an interesting situation developing up front with the emergence of Gallagher and Galchenyuk. I wrote often about this during the summer when I analysed the amount of one-way contracts up front. Lars Eller sat out before Max Pacioretty went down to injury and took his place on the top line. But what happens when Max returns? We all know Eller's stay in the press box was only temporary. Barring another injury we could see someone like Colby Armstrong up in the press box. And what happens when Petteri Nokelainen returns? I suppose the Habs could waive/demote Nokelainen but it seems pointless that the Habs would bench Armstrong after signing him this summer. Does a trade happen? I'm not sure how this plays out and it's certainly possible that more injuries happen which would make us fans thankful for all of that depth. Should be interesting either way.

Most people have thought this for a while. Nothing is 100% till an announcement is made but he has shown he belongs in the NHL.

Balanced ice time hurts the top line. Last year they were given every opportunity to produce because nobody else could. We're also just four games in and the sample is too small to draw a conclusion.

I think he stays on PP1 for now but it's obviously short-term at this point. Subban-Markov is meant to be on PP1.
