When I was young I really liked watching the Canadiens (Savard, Carbonneau, Roy etc.), then I slowly begin to develop a distaste for them (Ribiero when he first came into the league diving, etc.), but Max Pac brings me back to enjoying the Canadiens a lot. I am very happy that they signed him for 6 years.

That whole top line is something I am proud of. They differ in size but each have the same heart and determination.

I'm not sure if he makes the team out of camp, but I'd put the odds at 80% that he's in junior after 9 games. It's nice to not put him on a pedestal though (*cough* Latendresse *cough*).

The pedestal will come soon enough. One good shift in training camp and comparisons to Flower will begin. Thankfully, the kid isn't homegrown. Otherwise, the expectations would be astronomical.

What I mean is the GM having it in his mind to force Galchenyuk onto the roster and making it a sink-or-swim situation, usually resulting in a trade if results don't come quickly. How many times have the Habs done this?

So... former Hab Andrei Kostitsyn still has no contract, while another former Hab Steve Begin was invited to Flames' camp. Interesting...

Hmm, I'd assumed Begin had retired. Not sure what shape he's in but I'll sure be rooting for him. What a heart! Seems like a player Hartley would like.

    99% -perspiration; 1% talent. Sorta like a Bizarro-Kostitsyn.

He was invited to Canucks camp last fall but basically had a foot out the door already and was not in great shape, not to mention totally beat down. I can't see his odds being any better this time around but in a way he's a good training camp body to bring a few intangibles to the table for a few weeks in September.

Or maybe he's the first NHL scab...

French article stating that head scout Trevor Timmins (one of the best in the business) signed a contract extension and former Hab Donald Audette has been hired as recruiter for the Quebec region.

    Whohooo!
    Trevor Timmins is a genious.
He has on of the best track records in the NHL for drafting players that turn into valuable NHL assets.

For years the Habs have had issues with young players once they hit the NHL (Higgins, Ryder, Kostitsyn(s), Weber, Perezhogin, Marcel Hossa, etc) but that was a result of the organization doing a second-rate job running the team. It's what put the team in the state that it is in right now.

One thing that encouraged me last year is finally using Hamilton as a place to develop real players.

Yeah I'm super happy with these moves. It certainly looks good for the future espcially now that Timmins no longer needs to take care of both the scouting and the development.
