    Interesting !

Briere will bring his leadership and his work ethic. When he is healthy he is a real playoff warrior and one of the best you can get for the final rounds. Only 2 years ! Guive him a chance habs fans !

Not sure if the CBA covers merging contracts but I'm all for the experimental part of this.

nice, the Habs learned something from that series with the Sens, they need someone who can drop the gloves and pummel Cowen into oblivion

yeah that's one way to look at it...I don't like the Briere signing at all really but when I consider that it's only two years and they need to fill out the roster somehow I feel better about it. More than anything though I'm just glad that they stayed mostly quiet over the last couple days.

One thing to be thankful about is not committing to 5-7 year deals just for the hell of it.

Habs sign FA forward Stefan Fournier: http://canadiens.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=677040

    Stats here: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p...php?pid=115921

I don't see much here in terms of offensive upside. He barely finished above the point-per-game mark in the Quebec league in his overage season so that explains a lot. But he has a big body with a good PIM history. I like that is has more skill than the typical goon.

    More signings...

    Martin St-Pierre: http://canadiens.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=676942
    Nick Tarnasky: http://canadiens.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=676938
    Robert Mayer: http://canadiens.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=676936

In particular Tarnasky could win a roster spot as a spare.

I personally doubt that Fournier will make the NHL, as most of his goals are thanks to standing in front of the net with Drouin or MacKinnon either passing it to him for open nets or cleaning up rebounds from their shots. That being said, I do see some David Clarkson to his game, so if the Habs develop him right and he works hard he MIGHT become a similar player.

That'd be sweet! We could trade him to the Leafs so they could sign him long term for big money and hopefully we'd get a decent forward in return

I like the idea of bringing in older prospects to help fill the gap between their current team and Collberg/Hudon/friends. Fournier is 21. For now it's good to have guys who can play solid roles in Hamilton.

Between his playoff handlebars and Parros' stache we'd be set, follicularly speaking at least.

It's getting a bit crowded for him, now.
