Yeah, it's not like they haven't been down this road before.

    They played Ottawa one time.

one reason the Lightning lost so easily was because they had zero physicality. That's the key to beating the Habs, and nobody will do it better than the Bruins. Plus I don't think it's beneficial even if their series goes long. It's been shown that long rest is not a good thing.

this isn't the same bruins they have faced in the playoffs of yesteryear

even if they lose they still did better than most people thought they would this year.

I bet the Habs take the series to a min of 6 games, but have a hard time seeing them coming out on top. It will all come down to Price....if he can play at the top of his game, anything is possible.

I think if the Sens made the playoffs this year and they faced each other, they would have given Montreal fits. Not just a good matchup for Montreal.

Bruins though, the Habs still play them well. This year they were 3-1 against the Bruins. Rask's career record is just 3-10-3 with a 2.63 GAA. Last time they met in the playoffs was when the Bruins won the Cup in 2011, but the first round series against the Habs was their toughest matchup. Three games went into OT (all won by the Bruins), including Game 7.

This also isn't the same Habs team that the Bruins have faced in the playoffs of yesteryear.

Sure the Bruins outmuscle them, but the Habs have some good grit with guys like Prust and Weise who can skate, and if Bourque continues his newfound elite power fwd ways that's a big boost. Then you have the possible return of Galchy, and Gallagher is our answer to Marchand.

I think it'll be a great series, with the goalies perhaps deciding it. Price v Rask, it doesn't get better than that.

I'd love to see the Wings punish the Bruins and give them some aches and bruises before the Montreal series - the 4-0 sweep is huge in terms of health and healing, no matter what anyone says. If guys like Bergeron, Iginla and Chara absorb a few big hits, that'll make a difference in the next series.

if price can outperform rask they may have a shot. otherwise bruins should come out on top.

either way, i think officiating will be terrible this round and habs will be on the wrong end of the calls, similar to tampa. should be a fun series to watch, but as a leafs fan i'm hoping both teams eliminate themselves somehow lol

I'm going to go on a limb and say Habs clinch it in 7 games. You know, sort of like how last year played out if Ference weren't such a scumbag in game 7 and the refs weren't morons.

The Habs somehow, someway, manage to give the Bruins a hard time. As others have pointed out, they are 3-1 in their season series against the Bruins and have been the hottest team since the deadline. Not that their season series magically carries over to playoffs, because it doesn't. Playoffs are a different animal. But I see the series going long and I can see Montreal edging them out in the end. Is it likely? Maybe not. But it seems like if any team can take down the Bruins, Montreal is the one.

I have a feeling that Julien and Therrien will get into a fight at some point during the series.

lol that's awesome and some old school rivalry sentiments in there that I just love lol.

I agree Price has to outplay Rask but ultimately these two are almost a wash to me. This will play out on team defense, power play (bc you know the Beans are taking penalties...) and the Habs ability to frustrate the Bruins, without being out-muscled and by drawing calls (see: powerplay) .

yeah, I see Kronwall there, who can with one big open ice hit spell bye bye for any Bruins forward.

In any event, it's not like you need a monstrously big team to impose physical punishment on another team in the NHL playoffs, just lots of hitting and gritty play, the Wings can do that.
