Sens are a better team today than they were yesterday.

Aside from the Allfy shocker, I love what the Sens have done today. Awesome work. Can't fault the Sens for Allfy leaving, they did what they could. Allfy left on his own choice.

    Great moves today for Ottawa!!

agree with this...they got rid of a lot of dead weight and added one of the better wingers in the league, great size, strong on the puck and great offensive instincts. MacArthur they paid too much but it's sort of a "who cares" situation because they had the money to spend after cleaning house and he does add an element of grit and determination that they lacked. Definitely some of the smartest moves in the league today were made by the Sens

So much is interchangeable within this lineup and so many guys chomping at the bit to get in. Still need a cheap defenceman because Ceci won't stick but maybe that is where Wideman comes in. Forwards are fine with are young guy like Pageau, Stone, Hoffman, Prince, Da Costa, Dziurzynski, etc.

Maybe a trade with O'Brien for a servicable right handed Dman or the signing of Wishart or Blum.

Yes. Sucks to see Noesen and Silfverberg go along with a 1st rounder. But to land Ryan and only use up one roster spot in Silfverberg from last season to do it, I'm excited. I think we all knew a 3 for 1 was going to happen in order to make a bit of room for the younger players and that is exactly what landed us Ryan.

Which prospect suprises us the most this season? Prince, Stone, or Hoffman? Maybe Wideman on D if Ceci doesn't impress? How can you go wrong in picking any of these guys?

Lazar just scored the games 1st goal 30 seconds into period 2. Quick turn-around shot.

Lindberg just missed a penalty shot trying to slide it 5-hole.

Cheers....my favorite player in the NHL. Class act, gone from my team to Detroit.

Totally respect how it was handled, and his comments on it.

    Good luck Alffy.

I will be buying a Detroit Alffy Jersey.......respect.

Default FA day and Alfredsson's Departure

I agree with many who question Alfredsson's decision to sign in Detroit. He obviously has the right to leave the Senators, and is free to do whatever he thinks is in his best interest. However, I agree with Ev and others who point out that Detroit really isn't any closer to the Cup than the Senators are.

Nevertheless, he thought otherwise and I am completely ok with that. Yes, the Ryan trade helped (though I do think that Anaheim got a great return), as did the fact that Zibanejad wasn't part of the deal. However, I do think it is time for Ottawa to move on from Alfredsson. He is one of my all-time favorites, and I will never forget his inspiring performance in 2007 vs. a very good Buffalo Sabres team in the playoffs. Still, a cup eluded this team even in the late 90s/early 2000s, when they were a powerhouse in the league...yet kept getting torched by Leafs' goalies in the playoffs. I am not saying Alfredsson is to blame for those losses, but I will say this: He wants a cup before he retires, and I don't blame him. But if he doesn't believe in his heart that he could do that with Ottawa, then I don't want him captaining the Senators. Quite simply, if you don't believe that you'll win, you won't.

If Ottawa gets knocked out of the playoffs, I will cheer for Detroit. However, I want a captain who believes 100% that the Senators can win it all. I sure hope Spezza has that mindset.

Giving a player who has one, maybe two years left (Phillips) doesn't make sense. You give Spezza the C or you lose him in two years.
