No problem facing Washington either. Bring it on.

    Anybody but the Bruins.
Maybe so, but as most Leafs fans do, my counterpart won't stop flappin his gums about haow much better the Leafs are, and possibly this year he may be right, and to finish AHEAD of them would make it sooo much sweeter.

I do enjoy a bit of smack talk at this time of year though

So Washington's supposed to be scary? Handled with ease last night. Same old Ovie.

Zibanejad looked really good last night....I thought he was the best Senator on the ice.

    fixed that for you...

kid is looking good lately...full of confidence, heck of a shot.

Once Spezza returns, Ottawa will have two scoring lines for the first time since...well, forever really.

They'll have 3 scoring lines. But that will be next year.

Zibanejad deserves recognition for the Calder. He's a beast in all zones. They should never even think about playing him at wing again. He's a much better player and has much more potential than Silfverberg it's ridiculous, can't believe people thought the opposite.

The injuries are a blessing in disguise since he would be in the AHL or traded if they didn't happen.

    Big Ev,

Can you breakdown what you think the lines will be next year?

I agree that Zibanejad deserves recognition for the Calder, but unfortunately it won't happen. It is sort of like Brodin in that unless you look at things besides point totals, you'd have no way of knowing how good Zibanejad has been this year.

Posted a bit about this on the previous page, but I think there are three pairs who will be together on three different lines (if Alfie returns):

    Spezza/Michalek
    Turris/Alfredsson
    Zibanejad/Silfverberg

Then you fill in the lines with Conacher, Greening, whoever they may sign. Conacher most likely sticks with the rookie Swedes, but he is a beneficiary of the two for the most part and might be better off playing with Spezza.

If Alfie doesn't return, then I have no clue who Turris plays with.

Karlsson is cutting aggressively, cleared for contact. No pun intended.

Assuming Alfie retires and Latender re-signs (which I doubt). Here's what I would personally like them to try.

    Michalek - Spezza - Silfverberg
    Conacher - Zibanejad - Turris
    Latendresse - Smith - Neil
    Greening - Pageau - Condra

I wouldn't mind seeing Turris on the RW considering he's only average at face-offs and for some reason I think he coasts too much, so putting him with 2 speedsters might motivate him a bit.

I don't necessarily mind rolling out 3 scoring lines, but I think it's a bit better to have 2 really strong lines over 3 good lines. Hard to say though. If Alfie plays another year then it'll be easier to spread to 3 scoring lines though.

I wouldn't mind Turris on wing but only if he is comfortable and happy there. I don't like the idea of moving a guy off his natural position that he's played his entire life, but if it is needed and it works then try it out.

I just don't think they will separate Zibanejad and Silfverberg any time soon.

Also, other teams should be getting scared. Anderson, Cowen, and Karlsson in a bit added a huge jolt to this team.

That's true, but if a coach can see something there that might work then I don't see him saying thanks, but no thanks. Ovie moving from LW to RW probably wasn't his idea, but it's working so why not see how it goes. He plays wide a lot and relies on Alfie to bring the puck through the zone anyways, so I doubt it'll be all that different.

Even though Zib & Silf have been playing well together, I think Spezza setting up Silf could be deadly - like old school Heater deadly. Either way, it's a good problem to have and it'll be fun to watch once they're all healthy.

Yea, Cowen alone seems to have a huge impact. I'm not expecting a cup run, but possible winning a round or two would be nice.

Ovie doesn't play a wing...he plays where he wants. He was all over the ice last night. He was on the Left side just as much as the right side.....

i like these lines, but i dont see GL re-signing either, he showed a bit of the big body prescence at the start of the year, but has since fell down the chart in my books.

i would like to see more of Kassian, or maybe bring up Stone (although hes a RW)to replace Latendresse.

Do you guys think next year they'll keep both Turris and Zib at center and have 3 strong lines with Smith as their 4th line C or move one of them to wing and load up two lines?

(I say 3 strong scoring lines.)
