I can see a player for player swap with another injury-prone or disappointing player/prospect coming back. I would take Havlat given that he has another year on his deal.

Let's see if Michalek can get into the swing of things after 10 games but his confidence looks shot and his speed isn't the same. But like Karlsson needing time, maybe he needs time.

Ever since we started talking about the MacArthur vs Conacher fantasy debate for this weeks games, Conacher hasn't been consistently on the top line with Spezza since (2 games worth).

Tough break, he seemed to be creating and working for his own opportunities when he was on Spezza's line. Majority of his minutes last two games has been with Neil and Smith or with Grant and Condra. He did see some PP time and was key to Zibanejad's beauty from the point.

I'll take it right now, but hold out hope that he can find his confidence at least. Tough to do when his confidence used to come from his speed though.

I don't think Michalek has any trade value.

But there is value to his inflated cap hit coming off the books next year.

I think the best you can hope for is that his dollars (or most of them) get reallocated next year to someone that isn't useless.

He isn't completely useless, he can still PK or whatever, so I think some team would take a chance on him and give a 2nd or 3rd if they chose to deal him.

Thanks. Still a young season and I hope he is a solid keeper who doesn't kill me this year while I'm trying to contend. I could see him catching fire or going the opposite route and toiling on the third line.

Just posted this on the main page, but really should get it out to the Ottawa locals, so here it is:

Who wants my seats for todays game in Ottawa against the Sharks?

I have some seats that I'm not going to use and wanted to reward someone within this great Dobber community with the opportunity to see a game live.

If you, or anyone you know in the Ottawa area want to catch a game on me, let me know. I would prefer they go to someone who isn't a regular at live games, but I can't really control that at this point.

Cheers and sorry I don't post as much as I used to. I still creep. Keep being positive and helpful to others.

    Default Conacher

He flies around the ice, gets in on the forechecking, gets back in the defensive end, is tenacious, is always in the crease.....

It doesn't matter what line he plays on that's what he does....yet he hasn't clicked with anyone in particular on many of the lines....he is just effective at little things. I think the guy that ends up on line one is the one that works well with Spezza. My money is on Greening.....he has the speed as well, and brings a big body....

Conacher lining up with Zibanejad lower in the lineup might be a good fit. Those young lines with speed and tenacity always seem to be effective.

IMO the perfect trade would be dumping Michalek and adding solid pieces to get Steve Ott. Perfect player for this team.

    Default The Buzz on Lehner

    Alright Sen's Specialists.

While I've tried everything I can think of to strenghen my Goalie situation (having Lost Rinne for the time being and Pavy proving that Dobber was..."aHEM!" mistaken in his higher than usual valuation...it's clear to me that I may have to consider another angle.

I think I'm in a position where I could give up a Pavy for Lehner this year, and continue on with Crawford and Spot starts of Hutton/Lehner (and maybe add another quality #2) until RInne is back.

IF Rinne comes back and is no longer Dominant...maybe NOW is the time to invest in a young tender who's expected to be in everyway dominant once he earns the crease.

    Prudent move? Or short sighted?

I'm posting this in the Ottawa Thread because I kinda want to the bias view (I really like Lehner).

I don't trust Pavy to take starts...so what good is that?

    Thanks Sens Experts ...

It's not a bad long term investment but you'd have to get Lehner+ for Pavelec right now IMO. Starters who are only 26 years old carry a lot more current day value than a backup no matter how you spin it.

Lehner is going tio be the guy when Andy moves on, but in the meantime his spot starts will be very few and far between unless Andy gets hurt.

probly wont get too many starts while Rinne is out.

Lehner plus is what you expect to get back for sure, they are on different planes right now obviously. Great long term potential, but only after Anderson is gone.

Not a Pavelec fan at all. I would grab Lehner if you could because he should be seeing more starts even now. That said I agree with the above, I would look for more than just Lehner.

On to to Sens, I am confident that Kyle Turris is the team's best centre. He is insanely good in all three zones and every player who plays with him gains confidence and impoves their play. Whoever plays on Spezza's line is absolutely brutal and gets hemmed in the zone for the majority of the game.

Spezza is a fantastic talent, great person, great leader IMO, but I just don't see us winning a Cup with him (like we didn't win one with Alfie). I am not sure we need him in 2 years with Turris' progression and the other centres we have. I think the "old guard's time may be running short.

Anyways, just a little rant, but I liked Zibanejad on the wing, and I am not overly concerned with where we are headed right now. We need to improve our team D, no doubt, but most team would have losing record playing who we have played so far.

If we don't show well against the weaker opponents this montj, then they must do something to address the defence.

Curtis Lazar can't come soon enough (or a player like him).

I'd like to see them try Zibanejad with Spezza and keep Ryan with Turris next game.
