You're wrong. It is overblown in hockey. When is the last time we had a player retire due to concussions?

Your'e excluding the middle by focusing on extreme outcomes. "Suffered" from a concussion should be a sufficient diagnosis to have a discussion and league protocol on the issue.

Has there been a worse trade in past decade than Conacher for Bishop? What I think was telling that year, before he was traded, was that BB was gr8 and obviously v confident in shootouts compared to Anderson and Lehner. If we'd kept him this year would have looked very promising, he's the kind of goalie who could help Sens survive many of EK's gaffes.

St Louis traded Ben Bishop for a 2nd round pick (Tommy Vannelli); Ottawa traded Bishop for Conacher and a 4th (Tobias Lindberg). Is one trade really worse than the other?

And in both cases, Bishop was moved because of a crowded crease and waiver rules.

It's easy to look back and criticize moving Bishop now, but at the time it made sense. Anderson was by far Ottawa's number 1 goalie. And Lehner was 'their' guy. And in 2012, Lehner had better numbers than Bishop in both the AHL and NHL.

And if you look at the full history of this, going back to acquisition cost, Ottawa didn't fair that badly. It's probably a wash.
