Girardi is out looks like the 'maintenance' day was a bit more than that. Would have thought they would put Staal on the top pair with McDonagh. I also hope that the 4th line is the 3rd, I would hate to see Kreider and Miller get 4th line time.

it is an optional practice for #NYR...Girardi, Richards, and Staal all not on the ice...everyone else is out there...



Girardi is still hurt obviously and Staal logged the most ice time last night with over 26 min. Not sure what is up with Richards though.

He's got the big fat contract for life, that's what's up, to present my cynical perspective on things. Unless he's ailing, that's a pretty poor attitude, considering the Rangers' offensive struggles of late.

i have tended to create few friends on rangers boards because i have a very hostile view towards moves they have made like the richards signing

i actually debated saying something critical about the fact that he isnt on the ice however i wanted to try to be a kinder gentler lucifer

As a Stepan owner I like the look of that line. Has Stepan and Nash played on the same line so far this season? I don't think they have but not sure about it.

last game they put richards with kreider and miller and stepan with gabby and nash

to be honest i prefer stepan with gabby than nash but we will see how things go

either way its good to see him with some top talent as that should benefit him

its a nice top 9 though

Think he will get enough PP time to be relevant over my last crappy D (Foster)?

I always liked Stral, but he just never seems to bring the points.

in the near term i just dont think that he brings enough defensively to the table to get the kind of icetime he needs to get out of the teens in points

he might get more icetime with injuries in the top 4 (like girardi being out now) however when the top 4 is healthy he just isnt going to get on the ice with the better forward units and he isnt likely to get much more than 12 min per night total

Torts says he hopes Boyle is "miserable" watching tonight's game and improves his play so he doesn't force him into this decision again

Torts admits there were other candidates to be scratched, including one with "five goals" (that would be Gaborik).

But Torts said it's tougher to bench a goal scorer, easier to bench a third or fourth line player like Boyle.
