Default Pick the best 4 goalies for the year.

Interesting goings on in one of my leagues (not in sig). Wondering who you all would take as your top four goalies moving forward?

I am also interested if you think carrying five goalies is too much? We start 2 per night and have a three game minimum. Stat split is 6-4.

Rask is available to handcuff Thomas is that makes a difference.
    H2H (10 Team): G, A, PIM, PPP, SOG, Hits, Blocked Shots - W, GAA, Sv%, SO
    Keep 4; Play 2C, 2RW, 2LW, 1F, 4D, 1UTL, 2G

    C: Crosby, Johansen, Stepan, Johnson
RW: Simmonds, Backes, Toffoli, Okposo, Brouwer
    LW: Ovechkin, Lucic, Landeskog, Palat
D: Karlsson, Josi, Shattenkirk, Gudas, Parayko
    G: Holtby, Allen, Talbot

I'd take Rinne, Neuvy, Miller, and Thomas.

Having Rask available as a handcuff makes the decision to take Thomas much easier. If Thomas were to falter, your covered so the risk associated with Thomas is removed. You can then cash in on all the wins that the B's goalies should provide.

I'm still a believer in Rinne. I think things will work out in time and he should put up good numbers, When all's said and done this rough patch won't seem as bad in hindsight.

I think Neuvy has firmly entrenched himself in goal for the Caps, and will be in line to post very good win totals for your team. I don't expect, barring injury, to see Varly pose any major threat to Neuvy's starting job.

I expect Miller to post good numbers once he returns. Not the numbers most were expecting on draft day, but good enough to warrant being in my top 4 ahead of Quick, but it's close.

Whoops, missed the part about five goalies. I'd amend my previous and remove Miller from that group if you decide to use Rask/Thomas.

I'd want Miller, Brodeur, Rinne, and Quick.

Brodeur, Rinne and Quick will get you more than enough wins, and Miller will get his fair share, and all of the 4 will post stupendous numbers.

With those 4, you do not need a 5th. Use the roster spot somewhere else.

I would kill to have that goaltending in my 10 team Yahoo League.

Sorry guys, I should have been more clear. This is NOT for the team in my sig. You all would hate me if I put all 6 teams in my signature.

The goalies in the poll are the only ones in question.

I think it's in your original message. We're just idiots, or the Thomas thing threw us off. But I'd still want those 4 in any leauge.

    Now...

    Ryan Miller
    Jonathan Quick

    Pekka Rinne

For the last spot, I'd say take either Neuvirth or depending on your team, and it's roster spots, I'd take Thomas/Rask.

I know I'm quite the idiot at times.

I agree with TML here that pairing Thomas/Rask is a good move here in your spot. You've already got Rask so there's no risk with Thomas, you should go ahead and take full advantage of what they're offering.

It's that trio, of Miller, Quick, and Neuvy, that makes for the hardest choice. Miller is the safest pick there so you just have to wait out the injury. I don't know but for some reason I just can't bring myself to jump on the Quick train. I think I'd still go for Neuvy there myself, but taking Quick certainly wouldn't be a bad move either.

Going to go against the others here - Miller, Rinne, Kipper would be my top three. Then if you want to handcuff the Boston tandem, grab Thomas/rask, otherwise take quick or neuvy (my vote would be quick).

Kipper gets so much hate on these forums but he's hands down my #3 choice on that list (and I'm an oilers fan).

Give your heads a shake guys, Gern is talking about options he has, not asking about if you could take any goalie you want.

For a 1 year league, I want the Thomas and Rask set, Quick and Neuvirth - taking a 5th goalie would be dependent for me on the size of your bench relative to your starting roster.

Good goalies on poor or middling teams tend not to cut it in a 4 goalie cat 1 year league. Boston are spear chuckers and their goalies rock - even Rask with no wins is on .921 SV%. Quick is very good and the Kings have arrived. Neuvirth plays for the Caps and is racking up the wins with decent peripherals.

Agreed we need to know bench size and if other positions are daily starts and/or have max # games played /week (I know prob not for H2H, but just to be certain)

If you need the bench flexibility (which would be my guess based on above) I would want Thomas, Rask, Miller, Rinne. I think that gives you the best shot at all 4 cats per week. Neuvy will help your wins, but I don't see him getting many shutouts or having a stellar GAA. Quick I don't think is in the same echelon with the others for the whole season.

I would discount Miller's injury almost completely in your decision, as your goaltending will be good enough just with Thomas, Rask, and Rinne to keep you competitive, and will be an asset when you need him most: in your playoffs.
    H2H 10 GMs Keeper: keep up to 4 at cost of draft pick (round) G, A,+/-,Blocks,SOG,PPP; Wins,GAA,Sv% Start 3C 3RW 3LW 4D 2G, weekly starts
C: Еric Staal   Henrik Zetterberg (LW)   Matt Duchene   Brayden Point   Danny Heinen (C/LW/RW)
LW: Johnny Gaudreau   Taylor Hall   Jonathan Huberdeau   Nick Schmaltz (C/LW)
RW: Никита Kucherov   Blake Wheeler   Jakub Voráček   Teuvo Teräväinen (LW/RW)
D: Shea Weber   Dustin Byfuglien   Keith Yandle   Seth Jones
G: Ben Bishop   Jake Allen   Martin Jones
