Cam Ward - Underrated?
I watched yesterday's game and was impressed. He was solid pretty much all game. Today, even with some sketchy defense in front of him, he has been stopping a ton of rubber all day.
Cheers to all of us who may or may not have targeted him on draft night. Cheers to the people who may have had him just fall in our lap on draft night. I feel that we are going to reap some big time rewards this year.
He's definitely underrated. I never understood why people took guys like Howard, Price, Fleury, Anderson etc. ahead of him. He won the Conn Smythe and matched his career best SV% last year and is still young and on a young up and coming team nonetheless.
Since we're both rolling with the same goalies, I'm gonna totally agree with you. I was hoping he'd fall to me in the 3rd round and he did. This enabled me to get two high end forwards. I ended up with him in almost all my mock drafts as well so I was watching for him. He has a nice resume, but because he plays down south doesn't get the credit he deserves. If he stays healthy he could be gold. I payed a high price to get Bryz so it was nice to get Ward on the cheap. Hope it pays off.

I had him in a couple keeper leagues over the years, but somehow one way or another I traded him in various deals and now in those leagues my goaltending is suffering. He got hurt a few times and I needed to make a playoff run in my leagues, so I used him as a chip to trade away for the ole" help now" aspect. ughhhOriginally Posted by NYR9394
I have him in all 3 of my leagues, and not so much because I targeted him, but because after I grabbed my first goalie, he was ALWAYS around in the 4th/5th round. Nobody was willing to grab him that early, and it looks like he's off to a great start

I reluctantly picked him up as my backup to Howard in the 4th round and he's off to a great start so far. Definitely undervalued because of last year's setbacks.
I picked him up this year, but the only thing that hurts is his $6.3M salary for cap leagues...but if he performs at an elite level, then I think its worth it. I think carolina might surprise this year, the whole team is underrated.

I traded for him 2 years ago in my dynasty before the 08 season started. Got him for Pogge (when he was a big name prospect), Stempniak (when he was with the Blues) and a 1st/2nd round draft pick. Steal!
Kipper's my #1 guy but Ward is the future of my goaltending. Having those 2 in 08/09 rocked. They both finished top 3 in wins.
