    Default Michal Neuvirth

Any opinion on Neuvirth and the likelihood of him splitting games with Varlamov?

I'm considering dropping Prospal or Frolik, maybe even Pavelec before the season starts and see how this will all play out.

I guess that depends what you mean by splitting. I don't see 50/50 unless Varlamov really falters and Neuvirth really plays well.

I would predict they go about 65/35 in favour of Varlamov. I haven't bought into the Neuvirth hype like almost everyone else.....

It seems the less you have played the more you are hyped these days.

Also keep in mind that when you have a tandem like this the team will likely have a preferred goalie to play against 'the better teams' and the other to play against 'the lesser teams'.

Its Varlamov's job to lose.....so it is as possible as any other starter that has a capable backup. But is not definate by any means.

You can do a seach for the goalies names.....this one has been hashed out many times.....and there are a lot of opinions in both directions.

Will Neuvirth split time with Varly? Yes, though Hybrid is right in saying that it isn't likely to be a 50/50 split. I would say it'll likely be around 65/35 in Varly's favour, if he stays healthy. That being said, the reason people are up on Neuvirth, and the reason I kept him in my keeper league over some other starters, is because in most people's opinion Varly has a good chance of missing time, which could tip it towards a 50/50 split. Combine that with the fact that Neuvirth has a similar (although in my mind greater) talent level, and is more of a proven winner, with back-to-back Calder Cups. If I owned Varly, I'd be scrambling for Neuvirth to cover me.

That being said, I'd definitely drop Prospal for Neuvirth right now, even with Varly healthy right now. I'd take the shot. I definitely wouldn't think about dropping either Frolik or Pavelec right now, though, even with my belief in Neuvirth's talent winning out.
