    Default Rinne predictions

I'm sure many of you have noticed how late (by late I mean 4th round or so) you're able to draft Rinne compared to many other 'Dobber Tier 1' goalies. How comfortable should I feel with Rinne being my #1? I'm not sure why, but for some reason I'm not totally sold on relying on him being my #1 goalie in a h2h league where great goaltending is essential. Set my mind at ease fellas!

I could understand feeling that way about Howard (which I personally don't), but Rinne has put up #1 goalie numbers, except for wins, two years in a row now. The shutouts are especially on the elite level. I would feel comfortable with him as my number one. He's proven himself to me.

    Agree w/NYR. Rinne is solid.
Every stat will be there - if anything, maybe he only wins 50%. But he should be good to start 65G, up to 70G, so that's 32-35W... very good.

The Central will be even tougher this year with a healthy DET & a Halak STL.

Rinne is a great pick. The only reason he isn't hyped is his city, NAS.
If the guy was in MON or TOR, the entire hockey universe would be sharp to him.

Yeah, I've noticed how late people are drafting him too. Nice pick up.

isn't NSH defense good enough, when combined with Rinne's skills, enough to get him the Ws? i understand the offense is lacking a bit but.....the Wins should be there for him.

he is my #1 and i and excited!

I knew he was a little secret in my league (and that Ellis being gone meant a full compliment of starts this year... finally); I was able to snag him as my THIRD goalie in like round 13/14.

Granted I'm in a really shallow league (thanks to a few d-bags that bailed right before the draft), but I've got a real solid compliment of tenders:
    Bryzgalov
    Halak
    Rinne

I must say though that it seemed a number of GMs in my league this year stacked up early on top goalies this year.

If your league tracks goalie peripherals - SO, GAA, SV% - then he is easy top 5. In my keeper league, I'm heading into this season with Rinne and Bryzgalov, which will be a killer combo. Both put up great numbers.

Last year in the same league I had Luongo and M.A. Fleury, which, although it had star power, wasn't as good for me as Rinne and Bryzgalov will be. Fleury especially has weak peripherals.

    So, yes... Rinne FTW!

    GMG's Journal - Pekka Rinne

I recently selected Rinne as my #1 in the in-draft Pirate League as seen in the other forum.

    I'm feeling confident.

Rinne was 20th pick and 9th goaltender selected. Drafted in the second round which finished with 12th tenders being picked. (List below)

Dobber ranks him first tender with 40W, 9 shutouts.
HPG also ranks him first tender in H2H style with the following categories : W, SV, GAA, SV%, SO

    Roberto Luongo
    Martin Brodeur
    Ryan Miller
    Jaroslav Halak
    Ilya Bryzgalov
    Miika Kipprusoff
    Henrik Lundqvist
    --
    Marc-Andre Fleury
    Pekka Rinne
    Tuuka Rask
    Tomas Vokoun
    Jimmy Howard

Take from it what you will, but I like the pick and his opportunity even if the hype may be a little optimistic.

Rinne will have his biggest year yet this season.
No Ellis stealing starts, and a young skilled blueline thats only gaining experience as the years go by.

    Im thinking 32-35 wins. with 7-10 s/o.
