    Default Kari Lehtonen 2010-2011 Predictions

In a roto league with W, L, GAA, SV% and SO Kari Lehtonen is not that much of a risk in my opinion because if he gets injured, although he won't be getting wins he also won't be getting loses. His other stats are quite consistent from what I can tell.

Year Team League GP W L GAA PCT SO

    2009-10 Dallas 12 6 4 2.81 .911 0
    2009-10 Chicago 4 1 1 2.67 .899 0

    2008-09 Atlanta 46 19 22 3.06 .911 3

    2007-08 Atlanta 48 17 22 2.90 .916 4
    2007-08 Chicago 2 2 0 1.93 .934 0

    2006-07 Atlanta 68 34 24 2.79 .912 4
    2006-07 Finland (WC) 6 4 2 1.93 - 1

    2005-06 Atlanta 38 20 15 2.94 .906 2

    2004-05 Chicago 57 38 17 2.27 .929 5

    2003-04 Atlanta 4 4 0 1.25 .953 1
    2003-04 Chicago 39 20 14 2.41 .926 3

    2002-03 Jokerit 45 23 14 1.98 .928 5

Moral of the story. If your goalie categories count "Losses" and Kari Lehtonen only plays 50 games this year for the Dallas Stars he will still be very productive for you. This kid is legit.

I dunno, you watch him play and he seems pretty talented, but how consistent is he going to be seeing as how he's never started enough games to achieve workhorse status but when you've got Raycroft backing you up you know that's what the team expects. So I'm predicting another injury based on workload alone but if he doesn't then he probably burns out struggles, fitness has never been his forte. And while he does seem to have a good career record he actually only has the one winning season of note back in 06/07 when Atlanta was a playoff team and won the pathetic Southeast division. At the NHL level he's never really had great peripheral stats.

Now also think about just how good of a team Dallas really is. I don't like their odds this year. I don't like them one bit. They've got a great group of forwards but they are clearly missing pieces on defense. I wouldn't be leaning on Lehtonen for much of a winning record and don't expect him to help anywhere else. Mcgoo's predictions are as optomistic as I'd be willing to go.

lots of people on these boards talk about "drinking the kool-aid" of certain players...well i am drunk off the lehtonen juice for this year. i have read nothing but positive things about his complete 180-degree turn around in attitude and work ethic. he seems to have fully grasped the idea that working hard and getting in shape will lead to success. the kid (not yet 27) has all the skills in the world. since the end of last season he has been working out 5 days a week with a personal trainer stengthening his back, hips, and groin. on top of that he has been focusing alot on cardio. dallas has put alot of faith in him and he, after admitting himself that he let the thrashers down, has said he is going to do all he can to not repeat that with the stars. seems like a great working relationship.

i for one am excited to own him this year.

I'm lucky, our league doesn't count losses, so even if he doesn't win a lot I should get decent S% and GAA to go along with Brys.
