    Default Rinne v. Anderson

    Justin,

Break it down for me....I own Anderson but am toying with the idea of making an offer for Rinne. How do these 2 match up this season and beyond?

I am ultimately wondering if Rinne is in fact an upgrade over Anderson. So far the deal on the table is my 3rd round pick (31st overall) for Rinne. I don't have a 1st rounder and have (2) 3rd rounders. Our league typically see goalies go rounds 1-2 (scoring heavily weighted towards Goalies). League scoring cats and keeper rules in sig below if that helps too.

    Thanks in advance....

Interesting predicament. Your league (correct me if I'm wrong) doesn't even have GAA or SV% scoring categories. Anderson faced the most shots in the league last year and Colorado's defense lost their #1 shot blocker (but could gain Shattenkirk/Cohen/UFA) so by all accounts I expect Anderson to face a very similar shot average per game compared to last year, but most likely a few less starts.

Rinne will play more games, but I don't think it will be the kind of workload Anderson will see...unless Rinne really shines and Anderson really struggles.

The way I see it, you could keep Anderson and be loaded up in the shots category and then possibly draft a very good goalie at 31st overall that could net you some very good statistics as well.

If you don't think you can grab a good goalie at 31st overall and you can somehow trade that pick and get Rinne AND still have Anderson, well then of course there's no way you could possibly go wrong right there!!

if only i could have both heading into things....with our keeper rules only 1 G heading into the draft per team, so there is no way to make a play to get both at this time. thanks for the input, your reminder of the shots that Anderson will face really made this an easier decision for me.

Ah ok, that makes much more sense.

If you can only roll with one goalie, definitely stick with Anderson and put that #31 overall to good use elsewhere =)

I don't think Anderson will be AS GOOD as last year, because he was obviously lights out, but he will still win at least 30 games and get at least 60 starts.

ok, so now he wants to make it my 5th rounder....that would be 55th overall...i am now really starting to consider this. Rinne is that good right? i mean he has a ton of talent. he had strings of stellarness (its a word) last season. if i am looking beyond this season as well wouldn't Rinne be better than Anderson especially at the cost of a mere 5th round pick?

things become hit or miss with picks when our league reaches the middle rounds....for crying out loud I picked Kovalev with my 3rd last season...the kicker in this entire ordeal is Rinne was my guy last year and I traded him and my 1st rounder for Anderson (our leagues #1 goalie) and St. Louis (a needed upgrade at wing) to make a deep run in our playoffs. I lost in the semi's due to Anderson's lack of games that week...but I digress.

I would stand pat at 31st overall.

I would make that move in a second at 55th overall.

You have some added security with Chris Mason as well. He could easily surprise this season if Pavelec has another inconsistent year. I'd make the move for sure.

I think Rinne will have better numbers than Anderson

if its me, I try and trade Anderson for an asset and pick up Rinne at the same time
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.
