Ray Emery
I can't seem to find an Emery thread so if it's already been done, I apologize.
I know he went to see the doctor on Tuesday but never got any info on what he was told. Anybody have any insight on him? What's the possibility that he plays next season and where would he go?

I don't know anything about his health but I know talent-wise he belongs in the NHL. Next season he'll be a backup. It's impossible to predict where he'll go because there's a lot of uncertainty with several teams including St. Louis, Edmonton, San Jose and Philadelphia.

I don't believe he is expected to return until 2011-12, if at all. I believe his injury is career threatening.

I just heard from a freind that Emery's hip is bothering him and it might be career ending.
Last I heard his injury might be carear threatening. Not sure what steps he's taken to address it but he'll be lucky if he signs a contract this year. So drop him or trade him if you can. At best he'll sign as a backup somewhere considering the current UFA goalie market.

I think his hip is the least of his problems. He may have the physical tools to be an NHL goalie, but mentally he's weak.

On July 1st, Emery became an unrestricted free agent as his injury deemed him unable to play until he recuperates. He is currently rehabilitating from his surgery and is expected to head back into the NHL at the end of this year.

He's still got game, that's why Nick..At least that's what I think.When healthy, I think he's better than half the goalies out there. If you have room, it's worth a flier (pardon the pun).
I did though email Sam Carchidi, a Flyers beat writer, and asked him if he has head anything.
The feeling is that it might take another year for the recovery, so this year isn't looking good.

Ray Emery has avascular necrosis and will probably be done with any kind of legit career. I have mentioned this a bunch of times over the summer and for some reason nobody within the Flyers realm has been able to find out more.
But that disease is terrible and it pretty much ruins any chances of having strong hips. Maybe it's not very serious right now and surgery will allow him to play, but I don't think there's any point in thinking about him from a fantasy standpoint until there's something official released by the Flyers.
