the goalie or the winger?
I languish at trying to make a call on this guy's future. Seems silly but if I knew which way things are going to go with him - my life would be very simple in the world of all my fantasy hockey teams.
the goalie or the winger?
boy, if i was one of these teams that need goaltending he would be my first target. both because he'd be cheaper than some others and he's experienced.
I think Dan Ellis is a great buy-low opportunity right now.
He's a very good goalie that, despite seeing less and less action as the last two seasons have gone along, rarely has a bad game.
Very quick, good size, smarts, great stick handler. He has a lot of assets that most teams would love to have. He's capable of being a starter. I think a lot of teams that scout him have only good things to say. If there were any less of a goalie in Rinne, Ellis would be the clear-cut starter and probably be just as competitive as Rinne (although the playoffs would be his biggest question).
I can safely say, although of course I could never pinpoint teams, but he is considered a perfect candidate for a fair deal with tremendous upside.
Ellis is also very good at mental preparation, a result of playing a lot behind Rinne the past two years. A lot of goalie prospects in Dallas' system have turned into starting goalies, although one of the most recent ones (Mike Smith) has turned into a band-aid boy.
Yes, it's tough to know where he might end up this summer...but I'd have to think wherever he goes, he's a lock to be the starter. Otherwise said team wouldn't have signed him in the first place.
Yeah it's a very deep cap league guys. Getting some decent offers on him but this thread convinces me to hang on and hope he moves. thanks!
