I am being offered Rask in a trade and want to know what type of value he has short-term and long-term. I see that Dobber has him ranked as the 13th overall goalie. I am a bit confused by this given Thomas' 4 year contract extension that sees him being paid $6 mil, $6 mil, $5 mil and $4 mil. I can't see them using him as a $5 mil backup, so does that mean we have to wait 3 years for Rask as a starter? Let me know how you see this situation shaking out.

If I remember correctly (correct me if I'm wrong guys), Dobber says:

Backup this year.
Split time next year.
Starter the year after.

Don't forget, guys, that Thomas can be traded and even MORE likely, bought out if this development track stays on course.

I say, if Thomas even falters a bit this year, it's gonna be a split year with Rask and if Rask runs with it next year, bye bye Thomas. Just look at what happened to Giguère (personal issues aside) in ANH. It's Hiller town over there, regardless of contract situation...
