2 different problems here, first one is:
(1.) Do I start Price on Thursday vs. Leafs?
I'm a leafs fan, I can't cheer for Price that night aas much as I like him. Leafs always play the habs hard, and its usually a pretty high scoring game, sit em?
(2.) Trade:
Malkin, & Alfredsson FOR Kovalchuk & Backstrom (C)
Which side would you rather and why?
Cats: G, A, Pts, +/-, PIM, PPP, SOG... + goalie ones

I feel like you need to stick to your guns with your tenders. If you think he's your goalie for the year, you need to play him. Besides, the Leafs have such limited offense, and with Kessel not in the lineup they're missing their top weapon. I agree that the Leafs will play them hard, and I wouldnt even be shocked by a Leafs win, but I doubt they'll score much.
Whichever side gets Malkin is getting the better deal.

I'd rather have Kovalchuk and Backstrom myself.
Gino @ 115 + Alffy @ 75 = 190
Kovalchuk @95 + Backstrom @ 90 = 185
And that's just for next year....with Kovy and Backstrom you don't have to worry about an injury like you do with Alffy. Backstrom could potentially go higher than 90 as well. I couldn't argue with either side, but if it were me I would take Kovy and Backstrom.
And yes, I would start Price against Toronto, I think it's a decent risk...

You did'nt say what your options were instead of starting Price. It's a tough call as to which is the better pair to have , Alffis' #'s will decline from here on but Malkins will increase.Kovalchuk and Backstrom should increase so if you think they can out produce the other pairing you have to go for it + if Malkin is out for any amount of time then you have to depend on an aging Alffredsson.

thanks for the replies so far!
As for the goaltending, Price is actually my # 3 goalie, I have Lundquist & S. Mason
And for the trade, I was thinking that if Kovalchuk gets traded this year or signs with another team next year he should come pretty close to Malkin's numbers, thoughts?
Never let your personal team preference affect your fantasy hockey decisions. As a Flyer fan, I have Crosby and Malkin in my dynasty league. I have no problem cheering when they get points most every night. Start Price, I believe the Leafs will have trouble scoring goals this year.
I would not trade Malkin either. I would much rather try to look for ways to replace Alfe.
