Tim Thomas - won the Vezina last year. Should be good to repeat for the next couple years.
Martin Brodeur - all time wins leader still has a couple more 40 win seasons to go. Lemaire in town may assist in stacking up those shutouts! Next year he'll be the all time SO leader.
Nicklas Backstrom - great tender. Minny committed to him. Expect him to repeat in the 35-40 win category for the next three years. No Lemaire may cut back on his SO.
Simeon Varlamov - Great PROSPECT. Don't confuse a prospect with proven commodity. I'd love to have him so I could trade him. Someone would pay me too much! Lots of competition for the job in Washington. I think you should be happy if he plays 30 games.
Ray Emery - Great Head Case. Potential highs are outstanding. Potential lows are amazing. 0-90 points this coming year. I lean towards the higher end of that sphere. Probably an 80 point tender. Boucher is NHL material too.
Steve Mason - Calder Trophy. Read over the list of Calder Trophy winners some time. You'll like it a lot! When in doubt, take a chance on a Calder Trophy winner! Expect more of the same. Columbus plays responsibly, which is important to all tenders, but particularly to young tenders. He'll have a few waggles along the way, but I think the kid is the real deal. Threaten for 40 wins, 6+ SO.
1) Mason (I'm taking a chance)
2) Brodeur
3) Backstrom (quite a few years younger than Thomas)
4) Thomas
5a) Emery
5b) Varlamov
