Default 2nd wave goalie run has begun...

A 2nd wave run on goalies ha begun in our league with Toskala, Giggy and Biron now gone.

All that remain are some has beens, never beens, and could be's.

Here is a list of goalies remaining. How would you rank the top 5 or 10 for a keeper league scoring W, GAA, SV% and SHO? Short term contribution would be nice, but longer term gain is the main driver here.

    Thanks

Now that I have said that, has Emery been taken or have people forgot about him? If not, drafted take Emery. What about Rask? I could go on forever, so I will stop.

I still believe in Bernier's upside. I would go with him, personally.

I like Bernier in the long run but having the chance to watch scheneider live being a Winnipeger he does have a ton of talent. Needs the chance to prove it though via trade, until that happens I like Bernier.

I think it's a close race between Bernier, Neuvirth and Schneider. I don't see any of them as being clearly better than the other two. All have great ability. Bernier probably has the best opportunity as it stands today.

I'll side with Bernier as well -- I think he's got the best chance to move into a starting situation. Schneider needs a trade or he's stuck, and Neuvirth sits behind Theodore and Varlamov.

Yes, he will be great when Luongo dies.

Go with Bernier - future star!

    Thanks everyone.

Bernier was selected just before my pick, so I ended up taking Schneider. I know he likely won't play for soem time, but I hope his situation changes in the near future. Maybe Luongo gets homesick for the East coast and the door opens for Schneider.

I have heard that Luongo is not in a hurry to extend his contract in Vancouver.

    I can always hope.

    Cheers

One way or another, Schneider has a clear NHL future - one we'll know more about by the end of the season. If Luongo moves on, Schneider will be given his chance in Vancouver. If Lou signs a long term contract, Schneider will probably back up for a season or so then be moved.

I doubt Lou will sign anything short-term, he's a proven commodity and is at the age where I'm sure he'll look to have some stability. If he did sign short term in Vancouver though, it might be the slowest progression for Schneider. He's too good to be a 10-15 game backup, but the Canucks would be loathe to move him without long-term goalie security.

All being said, I can see Schneider being somewhere in the NHL as at least a backup up in 2010/2011, carving out a niche for himself as a consistent starter.
