Curious to know some good perspectives here.
First off, who do you think Detroit values more for their long term plans. Future goalie in Detroit is Daniel Larsson or Thomas McCollum?? Maybe both and pull a Minnesota Backstrom / Harding duo situation?
I know some guys think Detroit may go fetch a free agent goalie down the line, but dont these 2 goalie prospects have to be legit starters somewhere??
Bottom line, in terms of fantasy , where do either of these 2 goalies rack up amongst some of the " goalie prosepcts"
Any help, much appreciated!!

None of them are set in stone as the goalie of the future yet. It's a crapshoot with goalies, so they are hedging their bets by having several guys with good potential (Pearce should also be mentioned, but he's a long shot to say the least). Right now anything can happen.
GO WINGS!
Doubt the Red Wings will spend big to sign a free-agent goalie. That flies in the face of their avowed team philosophy. They prefer to save money in the crease and spend it elsewhere. If they do sign a FA, it will be at a sensible price. That decreases their chance of finding a starter.
I prefer Larsson over McCollum, just because he's more proven. You also have to consider Howard, too. He's spent part of four seasons in the AHL, though. If he doesn't start some NHL games this season and get challenged, he's going to stagnate.
No shortage of options for the Wings -- short and long-term.

Actually Detroit's team philosophy is to get the most bang for the buck, regardless at what position. They were this close to getting Luongo back in the day when he was traded to Vancouver. If a player is good enough, Holland will shell out the dough if he thinks it fits into the budget. It just happens that they've had the opportunity to have Hasek and Osgood cheaply in the last few years.
GO WINGS!
Obviously, more bang for your buck is the way for all teams to do things in a salary cap.
As for the Luongo sweepstakes, maybe they backed away from making a pitch for Luongo because they heard what it might take to re-sign him. I think any team would explore the possibility of getting him.
Anyway, I won't speak for Ken Holland. I'll let him speak for himself. Twice in the last month, Ken Holland has been quoted saying he does not think giving a big contract to a goalie is a wise investment.

"Investing money saved from the blue paint and putting it into the blueline is the blueprint Detroit has previously used for success, as Wings GM Ken Holland told THN after winning the 2008 Cup:
“If another team pays $4-5 million a year for a goalie, we’ll pay $1-1.5 million and sink the rest of our money into defense.”

"With a salary cap governor on his bankbook, Detroit general manager Ken Holland, himself an ex-NHL netminder, is of the opinion that investing heartily in a goaltender is not money spent wisely."
