I would say on your roster he is a keeper.
I would try to move E Kane for a D keeper.
Then keep that D and your top 5 forwards and Schneider
So I have point and a few pretty clear keepers on my roster. Given Point's body of work in the NHL during this season and the back half of last season, is he a keeper or an asset to move

He's a keeper for me. As it stands, these are my keepers.

D - Ellis, Fowler, Parayko, Butcher
G - Lehner, Forsberg, Saros, M. Subban, Schneider

Yes, thats right, I do not have EKane as a keeper. Big year for a contract. I am not expecting a return performance from him next season. He's one I'd be looking to deal away for a high pick so you can improve your D next year.

I agree with Kane. I'm trying to get a future return on him right now but his recent slump isn't helping me at all.
I don't think my D is all that bad considering I started with Fowler, Slavin, Ekholm and Dumba

Risky. Was Tyler Johnson a keeper after his big year? By all appearances yes, but....
This is where draft pedigree truly matters. Top draft picks who have a big year are 4/5 times going to keep producing good numbers. Guys with no draft pedigree can flash for a season or two and then abyss. You will have the odd Pavelski/benn here and there, but more often you get Brian Gionta or David Clarkson

True, I wonder with Point if he's really just a beneficiary of having easy match ups. He's playing behind Stamkos who will take every teams top shut down every night.

Stamkos will only get the unfavorable matchup's in away games. Its a common misconception that the star will draw the top checking line every game when in fact, home team coach has last change and will send Stamkos' line out against whoever he feels like.
With last change, Cooper can watch the opposing team put out their 4th line and decide to put the Stamkos line out. But it is a constant juggling match as coaches watch closely to see which lines will be out of gas. Most opposing coaches would not put out the 4th line unless they KNEW the top line was on fumes.
Coaches like Quennville utilize quick changes(Sometimes a line will have a shift as short as 10 seconds) to get the matchup he wants in away games, but he is juggling a lot too. Which is where you will see Superstars start to get double shifted with 3rd liners to mess with the opposing coaches Rhythm. Some teams will instruct the goalie to freeze the puck quick even under no danger just to mess with Quennville's rhythm. It really is an art form lol.
Stamkos is actually BETTER in away games than home games this year.

I prefer keeping him to Evander Kane, so yes.

So if Point is a keeper (which I believe he is more and more every game) Then My keeper situation looks like this:
Matthews, Ovi, Backstrom, Point, Huberdeau, Marner, Schneider. Debate is Varly or Marner for the one spot.

I wouldn't keep Varlamov. I think your final keeper is unknown right now, and you should be trying to acquire that guy using Kane and others. Maybe you deal marner & Kane for an upgrade?
