I am currently 1st in my division. Have the pick from an earlier trade

I'd do that. You have a good shot this year, and aren't giving up any really valuable known quantitites.

If you're competing I wouldn't do it because of how insane of a year Couturier is having and, so long as he gets to keep playing with the likes of Giroux/Konecny/insertbestwingertalent he should keep posting good numbers. However, with that said, he's riding a wholly unsustainable shooting percentage and is reaping the benefit of playing alongside Giroux/Voracek/Konecny wherein all three are having huge rebound years. I say this as a Flyers fan, Couturier is not a PPG player or 40, possibly even 30+ goal scorer in terms of his talent level. He's a great two-way, possession force that is great around the opposing net and in the corners. So scoring like he is, or close to it, requires a great playmaker setting him up for in-close opportunities (a la Giroux).

For that reason, I would take the trade if you were looking to rebuild. Which you don't seem to be.

Just looking at the pieces, I like what you are getting more. (I'm less concerned with the first round pick given the shallow farm teams, and you've got a few good pieces there). What I'm less crazy about is you downgrading at D to improve at C. You are pretty good at C, and D seems to be your weakest spot. I'm not sure your team is better with this move....

Update on the table. I receive Couturier, Nuutivara, 2nd round pick( roughly 17th overall)
I give Oesterle, Anisimov, top five lottery draft pick. I can move Marchessault to RW if I want also. What do you think?

    I dunno man.

I agree with the not wanting to downgrade your D.

I don't mind the move hoping that he keeps up the rest of the year. I'd be happier if you could move someone like Gaborik over Anisimov. He's just coming back and if he gets back with Kane and stays on the Blackhawks 1st PP unit he could add more value the rest of the year.

I don't mind giving up the first round pick for Couturier but try and give someone who will help you less.

I still like it, maybe even more, as I prefer Montour. Starting 12 F to 4 D makes the forwards relatively scarcer.
